As students use Digital Learning and Technologies

to connect-they build their skill-set through a curriculum based program titled ‘Digital Excellence’. This involves students collecting badges as they become ‘digital experts’ in a certain skill area.

Traditional Connection: A Prep student reads a message at assembly to only the audience present

Digital Learning Connection:With the mentoring of the ‘Radio Club’ members, a Prep student records their message to share with a limitless audience through options such as: podcasting, looped feed on 87.5fm, digital post to Edmodo, online blog, etc

An eSmart school is a school where the smart, safe and responsible use of information and communications technology is a cultural norm. Students, teachers and the wider school community are equipped to embrace the best these technologies can offer.

Digital Learning: in PrepWe utilise many platforms to enrich and support students’ learning. Amongst other things, throughout the year you will hear your children talk about

Reading Eggs - Allows students to work at their own pace through early literacy curriculum concepts.- Can be used at home or at school- Highly motivating for students.

Mathletics- Highly personalised with tasks assigned to students based on their individual needs. - Motivates students to improve their mathematical skills. - Video tutorials to support student learning if they need help with different concepts.

BeeBots- Teaching early skills associated with coding. - Entry point of our whole school curriculum in coding. - Links to other curriculum areas.

SeeSaw- Allows students to share their learning in a closed environment- Only viewable by those with the QR code – students and families- Peer to peer feedback and learning

Digital Learning: Multimedia

The program supports the classroom program and extends students’ digital skills. Amongst other things, this year the program has explored

Journalism – small groups of students worked together to create news reports on topics of interest such as the Sri Lankan floods and Nuclear Power in Australia.

Podcasting – students have worked collaboratively to create podcasts on a topic of interest which are then shared with the school over the radio

Animation – learners wrote a narrative in the classroom and animated it used 3D animation software.

Radio Committee – an opportunity for Year 5 & 6 students to develop leadership skills and take ownership of the school’s Radio Station.
