This Independence Day,we at Computer Society of NMCCE would like to share an ambitious initiative undertaken by the Indian Government to take India to “the next level”.

Digital India is an initiative of Government of India to integrate the government departments and the people of India. It aims at ensuring the government services are made available to citizens electronically by reducing paperwork. The initiative also includes plan to connect rural areas with high-speed internet networks. It was launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 1st July 2015.

Under this programme, the government plans to introduce Broadband Highways, Universal

Access to Mobile Connectivity, Public Internet Access Programme, IT for Jobs and much more.

The governance will shift from fom e-governance to m-governance where “M is not Modi

Governance, it is mobile governance,”

Projects under Digital India:1. MyGov.in : MyGov is a technology-driven medium that will provide citizens an opportunity

to contribute towards good governance,it was launched bridge gap between people and government.Former Zomato vice president Akash Nangia's new company SISL Infotech will provide tech infrastructure for this project.

2. Digi Locker : This project intends to provide a secure dedicated personal electronic space for storing the documents of resident Indian citizens. The storage space (maximum 1GB) is linked to the Aadhar number of the user. The space can be utilized for storing personal documents like University certificates, PAN cards, voter ID cards, etc. There is also an associated facility for e-signing documents. The service is intended to minimize the use of physical documents and to provide authenticity of the e-documents. It will also provide secure access to Govt. issued documents. It is also intended to reduce administrative

expenses of Govt. departments and agencies and to make it easy for the residents to receive services.

3. Swachh Bharat Mission App: In response to the clarion call given by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi for

Swachh Bharat (Clean India), the nation is witnessing a wave of enthusiasts wielding the broom

By this ORS framework it will going to connect all the hospital across the India and the person who wants the appointment from the hospital regarding Lab reports, check Blood availability and Doctor Appointment .This whole process in E-Hospital will be Aadhaar based.

5. Bharat Net : Under this initiative, a high-speed digital highway will connect all 250,000 gram panchayats of the country. This is the world’s largest rural broadband project using optical fibre.

Key elements of the management structure would consist of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) for according approval to projects according to the financial provisions, a monitoring Committee on Digital India headed by the Prime Minister, Digital India advisory group chaired by the Minister of Communications and IT, an Apex Committee chaired by the cabinet Secretary and the Expenditure finance committee (EFC) / Committee on Non plan Expenditure (CNE).

ConclusionThe Digital India project is slated for completion by 2019. Clearly, we have a long way to go. On any reasonable estimation, DI, as envisaged, looks like MI (mission impossible). Nevertheless, it is possible to make a good start. But even a scaled-down programme will require a herculean effort in four areas: infrastructure, resources, institutional restructuring and policy.
