DIGIPAKS

WE ARE THE OCEAN GO NOW AND LIVE
• Use of a bird for the front cover
of the digipak connotes being
natural and simple, which
would be a generic convention
of indie music videos as they
would be casually dressed
again wearing natural colour
schemes like blue, green and
brown.
• The font style used for the
album is all sans serif giving the
idea of a casual and relaxed
album.
ARTWORK
• Artwork of the bird is spread across the three inside panels of the digipak and this makes the digipak extremely simple as they have filled the silhouette with water colours again and left a white textured background for the rest of the album, and I feel this would work well for an indie artist as they would be trying to be entropic and be noticed.
ALBUM INFORMATION
• Information about the album is placed on the back panel and right panel and this contains The track list for the album and the people that produced the album. Placing the track list on the back of the album seems out of place as I feel that the viewer would want to know what tracks are on the album as they opened the digipack and not who produced the album. I could change the layout switching the producer information and the track information around making more sense in moving from one side to the next.
JACK JOHNSON- IN BETWEEN DREAMS
ARTWORK
• Use of artwork for the digipak has a variety of imagery used, using an image of the artist on the inside panel of the digipack with a guitar which is typical of the genre. They have also used a more obscure imagery on the digipack using darkened silhouettes on the front panel and cd. This This gives the idea of being different or cut off from everyone else as this is a contrasting colour to the yellow background emphasising it.
INFORMATION
• In the digipack there is a small booklet with lyrics to all of the songs. this also has lots of relaxed images again relating to the indie genre of being natural and laid back.
• As well as the lyrics there is also publisher, musician and production credits in the back of this. This leaves lots of empty space on the album making it look clean and minimalistic.
• The use of tracks on the back of the album is clear and well presented with lots of space.
FONTS
• The types of font used for the digipack is sans serif giving a relaxed and simple look to the font which again is redundant to the genre.
• They are also simple again relating to the style of music that has been produced.
