    .

Human body is composed of numerous cells ranging

from 50 to 75 trillions and about 210cell types

Cells are oriented into groups to form specializedtissues and finally organs.

Many cell types in human like:

    Glandular cells-salivary gland cell

Alimentary canal or digestive system cells-

    paneth cellsGoblet cells

    Endocrine cells-ovarian endocrine cells

    Exocrine cells-acinar cell of pancrease

A cell that is highly specialized for theassembly and packaging of proteins forexport.

These cells take up amino acids from theblood and assemble them into enzymes.

    The enzymes manufactured are Amylase,

    Trypsin and Lipase.

Paneth cells are large cells, situated within therecesses of the Intestinal Glands, that possessprominent glycoprotein-containing secretory

granules. The precise function of these cells are not

    known.

The large secretory granules found in the apicalcytoplasm of paneth cell contain theantibacterial enzyme lysozyme.

Contribute to the regulation of intestinal flora.

The break down of large particles into smallerones is facilitated in the oral cavity by thesecretions from many different salivary glands.

The secretions involve saliva. Salivary secretions are divided into two major

    categories : serous and mucous.

Serous secretions are watery , non viscous andproteinaceous.

Mucous secretions are mucoid, viscous, andrich in polysaccharides and mucoproteins.

An endocrine cell from the ovary synthesizesand secrets steroid hormones which areconstructed from cholesterol.

The cell, shaped like a long , slender football, isfound in the theca interna of a growing folliclein the ovary, where it secrets a steroid hormonethat is a precursor of the female sex hormone,

    estrogen.

Goblet cells are glandular simple columnarepithelial cells whose sole function is to secretemucin, which dissolves in water to formmucus.

The epithelium lining of the intestine and lungscontain many goblet cells.

The primary function is to secrete mucus , aslippery , viscous substance, rich in

mucopolysaccharides , that protects andlubricates the lining of the intestine.

They usually have a broad apex and a narrow

    base.
