Clean Energy Fundcreates the Nevada Clean Energy Fund, which increases financing opportunities for renewable energy and energy efficiency improvements for homeowners and businesses. It is modeled on successful programs in

other states.

SB 407

Community Solar Gardenswould have allowed community solar gardens, where neighbors, businesses, and non-profit organizations like churches, to share the costs of a solar array and reduce their electricity bills. The bill also dedicated

funding to help lower-income users participate in the program. Rooftop solar currently isn’t an option for many Nevadans, including renters and lower-income families. Vetoed by Governor Sandoval*

SB 392

Energy Storage Goalsasks the Public Utilities Commission to determine whether utility companies should have energy storage targets, to increase storage of solar energy and make that energy available when the sun is not shining.SB 204

Promoting Energy Conservationrequires the Public Utilities Commission to set energy saving goals for investor-owned utilities, to help customers reduce use and save on their electric bills. The bill also requires that at least 5 percent of

energy efficiency program spending must go to programs for lower-income Nevadans.

SB 150

Planning for Innovationrequires investor-owned utilities (currently NV Energy) to submit a plan that identifies the costs, benefits and barriers to adopting technologies like rooftop solar and other small-scale distributed energy. SB 146

Clean Energy Incentivesrestructures an incentive fund to support clean energy storage (battery) projects. The bill also ensures some of the funds support clean energy projects for lower-income customers. SB 145

Clean Energy Firstrequires the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada to prioritize energy decisions that provide the greatest economic and environmental benefit to the state, diversify the electric supply and reduce exposure to the

volatile prices of fossil fuels.

SB 65

Restoring Rooftop Solarrestores rooftop solar in Nevada, bringing back thousands of lost jobs and allowing homeowners to reduce pollution and utility bills by producing their own solar power. The bill also improves consumer protections

for rooftop solar customers.

AB 405

AB 223Access to Energy Efficiency

allows all Nevadans to access money-saving energy efficiency measures by requiring at least 5 percent of these programs to be directed to lower-income ratepayers.

More Renewable Energy for Nevadawould have required 40% of Nevada’s energy to come from clean sources by 2030, making the state a national leader and protecting ratepayers from increases in natural gas prices.

Vetoed by Governor Sandoval*

AB 206

Property Assessed Clean Energyallows financing for renewable energy or energy efficiency upgrades tied to the commercial property instead of the business owner.AB 5

* Governor Brian Sandoval signed all bills detailed above except AB 206 and SB 392. RenewNV’s goal is to pass and enact renewable energy standard and community solar gardens legislation during the 2018-2019 legislative session.
