The total time from start of FDP to arrival of last operating leg may be extended above the scheduled FDP limitations as specified in Table A:• The Split Duty FDP extension is applied in accordance with Table E:

• Total FDP in Split Duty:o The Total of the FDP’s Before and After the Duty Break must not exceed 10:00.

Example:A FDP that starts at 12:00 with 5 legs under Table A has a FDP limit of 12:00.

If the Mid Duty Break given is 4:30, the maximum FDP extension under Split Duty is 2:15, resulting in a FDP of 14:15 = (12:00 + 2:15).

7.1.4 Fortnightly Rest PeriodAt least one 48:00 rest period with two local nights rest at base, within any 14 day calendar period looking back from the release of a duty period.

7.1.5 Rest after return to Home Base.Upon Return to home base, the rest period after will comply with Table G

7.2 - Augmentation of Cabin Crew and In–Flight Rest

Copyright © 2016 Understanding DGCA CAR – A Generic Interpretation All rights reserved.

A) The number of cabin crew shall be augmented beyond 15 hours of flight duty period by 50% of the minimum crew requirement as mention in rule 38B of Aircraft rules 1937 and shall be provided beyond 11 hrs of flight time.

B) The inflight rest shall be not less than ½ the flight time beyond 11 hrs upto a max of 04 hrs.C) The augmentation of the cabin crew is not applicable to aircrafts with a single exit and requiring a single cabin crew

member, but the inflight rest shall be as per Para 7.2 (B) upto 4hrs should be provided on the cabin crew seat.

Augmented Cabin Crews are limited to a single sector (scheduled). Augmented Cabin Crews are required when:

o the scheduled flight time in a single duty period is greater than 11:00, or o the FDP is scheduled to exceed 15:00

The Cabin Crew Compliment is increased by 50 % above the Certified Standard Cabin Crew for a particular aircraft configuaration and type.o Certified Standard Cabin Crew of 8 will require an Augmented Cabin Crew of 12.

Each Cabin Crew member will be provided an inflight rest period of no less than ½ the flight time above 11:00, upto a maximum of 4:00.o 13:00 flight time, will require each member of the Cabin Crew will be provided 2:00 inflight rest.o 20:00 flight time, will require each member of the Cabin Crew will be provided 4:00 inflight rest.

Scheduled Flight Time above 16:00 or Scheduled FDP above 18:00 are ULR operations and may have different augmentation requirements, depending on specific approvals from the DGCA.

The division of inflight duty and inflight rest must be balanced amongst all Cabin CMs, and should be specified in the operations manual.

An inflight rest period is only applied during cruise, not during the take-off or landing phases of a flight. o Takeoff phase - is generally the first 30 to 45 minutes of a flight.o Landing phase - is generally the last 30 to 45 minutes of a flight.

Each Flight is to be operated by a minimum crew complement of adequate number of cabin crew to man all the floor level exits and one additional CCIC to cater for Inflight rest. At least one CCIC shall be on duty at all the times during flight. This requirement supersedes the provisions contained in Para 3.3 of CAR, Section 7, Series M, Part 1.

• Time on Standby is NOT applied towards the Daily FDP Limits.

• 25% of the time served on SBY will be applied towards the Cumulative Duty limits.

Cabin crew shall neither be detailed nor undertake any flight duty between periods embracing 0100 to 0500 hrs local time for two consecutive nights except once within a period of 07 consecutive days.

• A series of Consecutive Night Duties (CND) is defined as two FDP’s which overlap any portion of the time from 01:00 to 05:00, on consecutive occurrences of the span of time from 01:00 to 05:00.

• A series of CND begins at report of the 1st FDP the overlaps any portion of the time from 01:00 to 05:00.• A series of CND ends at release of the 2nd FDP the overlaps any portion of the time from 01:00 to 05:00.• There must be no less than 7 calendar days from the end of a preceding series of CND to the start of the next

series of CND.• The maximum number of CND’s in any series is two (2).

Extended FDP and Flight Time Limitations• A FDP is deemed to be extended whenever the following conditions exist:• The maximum Actual Flight Time in a FDP may be extended by 1:30, and the Actual FDP may be extended by 5:00.• Only 1 extra landing is permitted above the scheduled limit in the case of a diversion, with no more than 2 extra landings in any 30 day

period.• The cumulative Flight Time Limits in 6.2 may be extended to the values in Table H:

Whenever the flight duty period gets extended, the rest period shall be pro-rata increased by twice the amount of extended time of flight duty period.

PIC Approvals of Extension:• Subject to the maximum limit of extension of FDP shall be decided between PIC and ‘Head of Operations’ of operator.• PIC in consultation with the other crew members and cabin crew will convey their willingness (or consent) to the ‘Head of Operations’

for operating the flight. The PIC will submit the report to Head of Operations who will file to DGCA along with his comments.
