Join the DG Sweet Peas at the Launch Zone on November 6.

The DC Metro Area is getting a Children’s Museum! But, not until 2013. Until then, the Launch Zone allows future users to prototype ex-hibit components and programs and share their ideas about what should be included in the new Children’s Museum.

Through the use of images, table-top interactive exhibits, and com-puter kiosks, Launch Zone intro-duces select areas of the Museum, while soliciting feedback and input from future users, including our sweet peas.

Cost: FREE!

Where: Launch Zone, 113 Water-front Street, National Harbor, MD

For directions, including via water taxi, and other information about the Launch Zone, see http://www.ncm.museum/launch_one/hours_and_directions.

This semester the chapter also voted to raise the minimum GPA from a 2.5 to a 2.75 and to institute study hours to con-tinue their academic success.

They had an unexpected COB after a couple students trans-ferred. They organized and hosted a beautiful black and white dessert party where they handed out 5 bids, and now have 5 new members!

Initiation is on Friday, Novem-ber 13 from 6-8, location TBA.

Beta Epsilon continues to have the highest GPA of any fe-male Greek

organization campus and this past semester was no excep-tion. Their GPA was a 3.44, putting their cumulative GPA at 3.42, and making them #1 among all Greek organizations and ahead of the All Greek and All Women GPAs.

"Sisterhood is the essence of all the wisdom of the ages, distilled into a single word.

You cannot see sisterhood, neither can you hear it nor taste it.

But you can feel it a hundred times a day. It is a pat on the back, a smile of encouragement.

It's someone to share with, to celebrate your achievements." ~ Anonymous

DGs in Provence

Member of the Month: Eleanor Cartwright

Eleanor opened her home in Provence, France to the Wine Tasting sisters of Washington, DC alumnae chapter. Six members spent the week of September 19-26

with our knowledgeable and French speaking hostess touring the Provencal countryside, visiting several markets that dated to the 16th century, tasting Cote de Rhone wines, taking cooking lessons and generally having a great adventure. Based from her house in the charming village of Faucon, we explored many towns and the

countryside of Provence. Thank you, Eleanor!

Sisters’ Spectacular News to Share Best Wishes to Keri Ann Hayes and Collin Tatusko who married this October!

Marci Thomas celebrated Columbus Day by welcom-ing a new baby boy, Lachlan Love Thomas, into the world! He arrived at 5:00am with a vigorous cry. He weighed 5 pounds 4 ounces and was 18.3 inches long

(mostly all legs). He has such a sweet disposition and is focused on eating with gusto followed by satisfying naps. Dylan relishes his big brother role and, for the moment, is enjoying keeping us well informed by regu-larly announcing his baby brother's activities. Don't miss Tiffany Shaw Waddell with the first reun-ion of South Carolina (Epsilon-Chi) which she helped to organize in the current Anchora, p. 36 or online: http://digital.watkinsprinting.com/publication/?i=22967

WDC is a 2008-2009 Five Star Alumnae Excellence Award winner. See what your chapter and certain mem-bers have been up to on pages 32 and 17 of the current Anchora.

Please share your congratulatory wishes with these sis-ters next time you see them.

If you know of a sister who has something to celebrate or a sister who could benefit from DG Does Good as-sistance (a home-cooked meal or a cheery card), please email know, [email protected].

Several years ago, Shanti Patching Halter said goodbye to the WDC DG chapter, Book Club and Gourmet Gammas, a special interest group of which she was a founding member. In town this month to be sworn into the Supreme Court Bar, Shanti spends some of her free time blogging about her family (see photo) and the never

ending search for just a bit of peace in the busy life of today's mothers. To view or comment on Shanti's blog, see: http://peace.littlerockmamas.com/ The October Lunch Bunch first toured Dumbarton House and Museum hosted by docent Carol Harman (Delta Iota).
