This readme file details some important information about the Deep Freeze Enterprise 7

release that you have just downloaded.

The following directories are available in the package:

1) Root Directory - contains the Deep Freeze Enterprise installer.

2) Explore_Faronics_Core - contains Faronics Core and Deep Freeze Loadin.

3) Redirect_Profiles_and_Folders - contains Faronics Data Igloo.

4) Documentation - contains the link to the user documentation.

Deep Freeze Enterprise consists of:

- Configuration Administrator

- Enterprise Console

The Configuration Administrator is a tool used to create customized Deep Freeze

installation programs pre-configured with passwords, schedules, and other options.

The Enterprise Console offers ways to control Deep Freeze on multiple

workstations from a central console.

The Deep Freeze Update Procedure is available in the Faronics Content Library at

www.faronics.com/library.

Deep Freeze helps eliminate computer damage and downtime by making computer

configurations indestructible. Once Deep Freeze is installed on a computer, any changes

made to the computer—regardless of whether they are accidental or malicious—are never

permanent. Deep Freeze provides immediate immunity from many of the problems that

plague computers today—inevitable configuration drift, accidental system

misconfiguration, malicious software activity, and incidental system degradation.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Deep Freeze Enterprise:

To run the Deep Freeze Configuration Administrator and the Enterprise Console, your

system requires Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Server 2000, 2003, 2008

or 2012 (32 and 64-bit versions of all supported operating systems). The Deep Freeze

workstation installation requires Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 (32

and 64-bit versions of all supported operating systems) and 10% free hard drive space.

The hardware requirements are the same as the recommended requirements for the host

operating system.

INSTALLING DEEP FREEZE ENTERPRISE

To install Deep Freeze Enterprise, double-click the file DFEnt.exe

to begin the installation process and follow the steps presented.

UPGRADING FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS

Instructions on upgrading to a newer version of Deep Freeze can be found in the Deep

Freeze Enterprise (and Server Enterprise) Update Procedure available in the Faronics

Content Library at www.faronics.com/library.

Before proceeding with an upgrade of Deep Freeze you must ensure that you have

your current customization code. If you do not have your customization code do not

proceed with the installation and please contact technical support for assistance in

determining what steps need to be taken.

FARONICS DATA IGLOO README

This readme explains the system requirements and general installation procedure for

Data Igloo.

ABOUT DATA IGLOO

========================================================================================

Data Igloo was created to work with Deep Freeze. Deep Freeze protects a computer and

restores it to the original state on reboot. Data Igloo is a utility that allows you

to redirect User Profiles, Folders, and Registry Keys to a different location on your

computer and retain data even after a reboot when the computer is protected by

Deep Freeze.

Data Igloo can also be used independently without installing Deep Freeze. Data Igloo

provides an easy way to create NTFS Junction Points and NTFS Symbolic Links using a GUI.

Faronics Core supports the monitoring and management of multiple workstations from

a central location. It acts as a central database repository for reporting,

communication, and product control. While Faronics Core implements basic functionality

shared across multiple products, its primary role is to serve as a common platform for

the management of other Faronics products. The basic functionality of Faronics Core is

extended by installing product Loadins. Loadins extend Faronics Core functionality with

new, product-specific status, actions, and reports. A product Loadin is a software

library that adds new product-specific functionality to Faronics Core.

Users with less than 1000 workstations are still encouraged to use Faronics Core

provided that the appropriate hardware to host an installation of Faronics Core exists.

The following system requirements must be met to successfully install Faronics Core:

- 32- or 64-bit editions of Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8

- The console also requires Microsoft .NET 3.5 SP1 and Microsoft MMC 3.0

Core Server Requirements:

The following system requirements must be met to successfully install Core Server:

- 32- or 64-bit editions of Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2008 R2 and 2012

Double-click Faronics_Core_and_Deep_Freeze_Loadin URL shortcut to download an

installation package that will deploy Faronics Core and Deep Freeze Loadin.

*** NOTE - Deep Freeze must be disabled prior to attempting to install the Core.

DEEP FREEZE MSI PACKAGER README

This readme file details some important information about the Deep Freeze MSI packager

release that you have just downloaded.

ABOUT THIS RELEASE

The Deep Freeze MSI Packager allows you to transform the Deep Freeze Workstation Install

Program (DFWks.exe) executable file into a Windows Installer (.MSI) file format for

deployment with Active Directory.

USING THE DEEP FREEZE MSI PACKAGER

========================================================================================

To use the Deep Freeze MSI Packager, follow the steps below.

1) Create a Deep Freeze Workstation Install Program (also known as the Deep Freeze Client

using the Deep Freeze Configuration Administrator, or use an existing file.

2) Once the Deep Freeze Workstation Install Program (also known as the Deep Freeze Client)

has been generated, open the Deep Freeze MSI Packager and browse to the file location.

3) Specify a name and a location for the MSI package to be created.

4) Accept the EULA and click on Generate MSI file. This will save the Deep Freeze

Workstation Install Program (also known as the Deep Freeze Client) to the location as

specified in Step #3.

The generated MSI file can be used for installing Deep Freeze through the Windows Active

Directory environment and through Silent Install (Command Line Interface).

NOTE: This generated MSI file CANNOT be used for uninstalling Deep Freeze from any of

the workstations that have Deep Freeze installed.
