STEP 1Assess Patterns ofHypoglycemia Determinewhenhypoglycemiaoccursandprioritize:•Hypoglycemiaovernight(1st)•Hypoglcyemiathroughoutday/night(2nd)

Dinnerbolusinsulinoreveningexercisemaycontributetoovernighthypoglcyemia.Ifhypoglycemiaoccursafterbolusinsulin,mayconsideradjustmenttomealbolusorcorrectiondose.

•Adjustmenttoovernightbasalinsulinmaybeconsideredinthecase above.Interviewpatienttodetermineifsmallcorrectiondosewas givenatbedtime.

•Nopatterneddaytimehypoglycemia.

Basalinsulinshouldkeepglucosevaluesinastabletargetglucoserangethroughoutthenight.

Assessifdinnermealmaycontributetoovernighthyperglycemia.

Ofteninsufficientdinnerbolusinsulinmaycontributetoovernighthyperglcyemia.

Assessifbolusinsulinissufficientand/orpatient’sabilitytocarbohydratecount.

Oftenthetimingofbolusinsulinadministrationisthekeytopost-mealglucosecontrol.

Ifthepre-mealhyperglycemiaiscorrected,thepost-mealhyperglycemiamayalsoberesolved.

•Pre-lunchandpre-dinnerhyperglycemiaseenintheabovecase.

•Adjustmenttobolusinsulinforbreakfastandlunchand/orincreasein basalinsulinmaybeconsideredintheabovecase.

•Furtherinterviewingwiththepatienttoidentifythepotentialsolutionsto thepre-mealhyperglycemia.

Pre-mealglucose

•Adjustmenttothetimingofbolusinsulin,amountofbolusinsulingiven and/orcarbohydratecountingeducationmaybeconsideredinthe caseabove.

Initial Set up:

In the Tools Option, choose to use the Dexcom receiver in blinded

(Blind Attached Receiver) OR real-time (Unblind Attached

Receiver) display.

ClickonToolsOptionandselect“ActivateClinicalFeatures”

ContactDexcomTechnicalSupport([email protected])withthe

“ActivationRequestKey”code.

Dexcomwillcontactyouwiththe“ActivationCode”.

Onceyoureceivethecode,enteritintothe“EnterActivationCode”field.Press“OK”.

REMINDER: Makesurethe“Display Blinded Data”isselectedinorderforblindedreceiverdatatobeviewedautomatically.
