When the products in pre-manufacturing stage are designed with the help of computer-based tools, it is termed as CAD Computer Aided Design (CAD)
It is a form of design in which people work with computers to create ideas, models, and prototypes.

Advantages of CAD in Weaving
Arahne is a software company, specialized in developing CAD/CAM systems for weaving.
It was established in 1992 The company is situated in SloveniaThe software works on Linux (not
Windows).
Software: Arahne

Interfacing CAD with Electronic Jacquard
• The CAD programming systems greatly simplify the procedures involved both in the production and processing of Jacquard Designs.
• The Cardboard or Pattern Cards are replaced by Magnetic Tapes for the Electronic Machines.
• The date required for Shed formation is processed on one of the available programming systems, which provides CAD and processing of all weave and pattern data.
Book: Sabit Adanur, “Handbook of Weaving”, Technomic Publication, 2001.
1. The design under consideration is scanned and saved in the library of the system.
2. ArahPaint Module is selected and editing of the image is done if required.
3. The edited image is browsed from library of images to ArahWeave Module in the Jacquard Conversion mode.
4. This mode gives the information about total no. of colour used for the design. Here weave for particular region of colour has to been assigned by playing with the various colour of warp and weft interlacement as taken beforehand.
