Monterey Peninsula College FoundationExecutive Director

The Executive Director is employed by the MPC Foundation. MPC Foundation employees are
not employees of Monterey Peninsula Community College District.
Provides leadership and vision in the development and implementation of a comprehensive
strategic fund raising program that supports college priorities, including direct oversight of all
annual, major and planned giving and campaign projects. He/She is also responsible for the
supervision and development of Foundation staff. The director works closely with the
Foundation Board of Trustees and the Foundation Board of Directors.
Essential Functions Responsible for the delivery of overall financial targets/goals of the Foundation. Responsible for strategic and operational management of the Foundation including fund raising, revenue andexpense targets, policies and governmental regulations.
Serves as chief administrative officer of the Foundation. Responsible for hiring, managing andevaluating the workforce force within the Foundation. In addition provides guidance andleadership for the professional and support personnel.
Establishes and administers the annual operating budget.
Develops and implement innovative approaches to cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gifts and leadership gifts including a detailed annual fund development including directmail, personal solicitation, grants, special events and planned giving.
Maintains a portfolio of major prospects and develop solicitation strategies for each categorywithin the development plan.
Works with the Foundation Board and College administration to align Foundation mission andworks with the college mission and strategic direction.
Utilizes technology in creating and maintaining systems to provide for the accounting and
acknowledgement of gifts, tracking, prospects, donors and board participation.
Acts as a partner with the Board Chair and Board to ensure: the identification of prospectiveboard members, assures that board members are in alignment with operational goals andobjectives, board members are trained in all aspects of the fund development plan.
Works closely with the College President, Vice Presidents, deans and faculty to more fullyintegrate the MPCF into the college.

Coordinates and executes campaign, plans, materials and prospect development for variousdepartments on campus.
With the College President and Board of Directors, develops long-range planning and directionfor MPCF growth, staff enhancement, board development, and program development.
Other Executive Director will perform other duties as assigned by the Board Chair, in conjunction withthe Board of Directors.
Minimum Qualifications:Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree with a major in Business Administration, Higher Education Administrationor a related field.
Minimum five (5) years related professional development positions of increasing responsibilitywhich includes successful fundraising and proven track record of developing gifts.
Demonstrates an understanding of, sensitivity to and appreciation for the academic, ethnic, andsocio-economic, disability and gender diversity of students and staff attending or working on acommunity college campus.
Knowledge of: Cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies particularly in the area of corporate andfoundation fundraising techniques. Demonstrated record of success in generating significantfinancial commitments from corporations, foundations and private individuals.
Public information, marketing and branding as it applies to the College's distinct image in our area.
Planned giving, strategic planning, fiscal planning, accountability, program planning andtechnology & systems.
