About us

We set up our ownbusiness in 2004,known as J A CJoinery, we had asmall workshop andnot many machines,within 5 years weasked the landlordwhether he wouldextend the smallworkshop so in 2009we doubled in size. In 2012 it was clearwe had to expand thebusiness again so in2014 we moved to aworkshop overdouble the size, webecame limited andknown as DesignerCreations and openedour very firstshowroom.

Art of the loom fabrics are now instock, we have several books for you tobrowse through plaids and linens,these and any of the Art of the Loomfabrics can be ordered from us. Wecan also get you samples. They arewoven in the UK and range from £19 -£40 a metre depending on what youchoose!

New Tool chest Course at LearnWoodworking

The traditional tool chest course isdesign is focused on learning andimproving your hand tool skill.

You will make you tool chest usingpre-prepared tulipwood panels so youcan concentrate on the hand cutting ofthe joints and shaping your box.

The joints covered range from dovetailto mortice and tenons and will be aframe and panel construction.

This course is aimed at anyone withvery basic woodworking experiencethrough to woodworkers withadvanced skills.

The course will start at 9am on day oneand finish approx 5pm, on day two tofive the start will be at 8.30 am andfinish at 5pm on the final day the starttime will be 8.30am till 4pm.

Some students will finish the chesthowever others may not depending onexperience.

Inspired by the Anarchiststool chest this course is asix day course

It costs £650 this includesall your materials.

This year will run from the29th June - 4th July.

Learn how to distress with a one colour &two colour technique. How to use crackleglazes, terrapieno 3D embossingtechiques. Wax & varnishing, quirkyideas to revive any piece. Courses are£40 per person dates at the moment are11th Feb, 17th March and 25th April. Groups of 4 or more can be booked withdates to suit you, get in touch to book.

Project of the monthWhat wood do you think that these french doors aremade of? Oak? You're right it looks like it but inactual fact they are made out of Red Grandis. Thiswood is very stable and great for joinery. We thenfactory finish the joinery in grandis oak finish fromTeknos, this mimics oak. From a customers pointof view this is great as you have the beauty of oakbut not the stability problems. The ironmongery isfrom 'From the Anvil' range of which we arestockists.

Jenny Duff is a designer maker based in Margate, Kent & set up thebusiness in 2000, her mum wanted mats for ChristmasJenny scoured the shops looking for some to give her. On avisit to the photo lab she saw a sign for having your owncoasters made from your pictures & the connection wasmade. A quality Melamine manufacturer was sourced in theUK and using original photography and illustration thebusiness was started.

We stock Jenny Duff Coasters and place mats, in a varietyof designs but we can order in for you too.
