Matthias Hollwich is a co-founder of HWKN, a 25+firm lo-cated in New York City. HWKN were selected for the MoMA PS1 Young Architects Program in 2012 with their project titled “Wendy.” The firm is involved in a diverse range of projects from retail spaces, pop-up installations, hotel developments to large-scale residential and commercial projects, most recently HWKN realized the Fire Island Pines Pavilion. The firm made headlines when President Obama showed up as a surprise guest while setting up a volunteering project at the Sasha Bruce Youthwork House, a homeless youth shelter in Washington, D.C. as part of the National Day of Service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Before co-founding HWKN, Matthias worked at OMA in Rot-terdam, Eisenman Architects and Diller+Scofidio in New York City. He is currently a visiting professor at the University of Pennsylvania. His work has been featured in Wallpaper*, New York Times, Bauwelt, Dwell and Architectural Digest.

DCA 2014 Conference Keynotes

Michael Webb is an internationally renowned architect and one of the influential founders of 1960s Britain’s Archigram Group -- a collection of six young architects who promoted a radical rethinking of the concept of architecture. Through the pages of a magazine the group produced highly colored images of ‘a new architecture that would stand alongside the spacecapsules, the inflatable structures and the lifestyles of a new generation.’ For eleven years, an exhibition of the group’s work toured the world. Originating in Vienna, it visited New York in 1998. In August of 2003 it was mounted in Seoul, Korea, and in London in March of 2004. Webb studied architecture in London, and came to the USA in 1965 and has since taught architecture at the Princeton Universi-ty, Rhode Island School of Design, Columbia University, Cooper Union, and a number of other schools. His work has been widely published and put on many exhibitions in Europe and America.
