BUILDING DESIGN - CONTEMPORARY ‘My buildings are my legacy….they will speak for me long after I’m gone’ - Julia Morgan

Appropriate use of natural materials, as well as adoption of timeless design principles, ensure that our buildings, whether they are period or contemporary, will age well structurally and aesthetically. The project being just 5 km from Melbourne CBD, a moments stroll from parklands and the heart of Chapel St represents urbanisation at its core. The brief was simple. Create an urban sanctuary with all the added extras. This urban project summarises the use of raw and natural materials in a sophisticated yet minimal way.

The project’s standout qualities are its eclectic use of materials - steel, concrete, spotted gum and glass. The home is characterised by a sustainability and a longevity that is expected to stand some generations after it has been built. Add a suspended fully enclosed glass corridor over a 40,000 litre suspended pool and you have the cue for a dramatic interior. The home includes a cinema and cellar.

INTERIOR DESIGN STYLISH & MODERN

At Design Avenue, architectural design serves a purpose. It tells a story. Whilst it lives in a moment, it aims to be timeless. It is relevant in its present context and environment, whilst looking to the future. Our key design philosophy is that our buildings and interiors age well whilst requiring minimal maintenance.

‘God is in the details’ - Ludwig Mies van der Rohe

CUSTOM FURNITURE DESIGNBeing an element of interior design, the whole purpose of bespoke furniture design is to not only enhance the aesthetics of the space but also to optimise the use of that space.

Custom furniture design enables that careful alignment between form and function to be harmonised.

HERITAGE

Working with heritage architecture carries with it the priviledge of being involved with something that has been passed down form preceding generations, with a view, to carefully maintaining the significant aspects of that style for the enjoyment of future generations. It is significant architecture in its own right.
