classes this quarter and later. Shop smartly. 1st day of class

14” x 17” Layout Marker Pad — 100% Rag Translucent, minimum of 100 pages (Office Depot/Office Max might be cheaper than Binders or Sam Flax)

Black markers — thin, wide and medium nibs

24 colored soft wax pencils — in a warm and cold temperature version of each of the primaries and secondaries, and at least one version of each of the tertiaries plus a white, brown, gray and black. Colorless Marker Blender

Pastel Colored Markers Other supplies will be determined by your project. Color printouts — price varies (ie: printed at home or at school for $1/print) but there are many options. Shop wisely.

TOTAL ESTIMATED COSTS: $400 & up ADDITIONAL (OPTIONAL) SUPPLIES for later quarters 13 x 19 inkjet or laser printer — approx. $300 (craigslist is a good place to start if you’re on a tight budget) Printing paper — $40/quarter, though quality and quantity will make a difference Ink/toner — $65 - $125/quarter Special materials and/or vendors depending upon the design and project — $50 - $1,500.

Photo shoots (any quarter): supplies, sets, props, wardrobe — $0 - $1,000; though some of this cost can be refunded once the shoot is done and the products are returned.

Photography of 3D projects for Designer’s grad book (8th/Grad quarter) — $50 - $75/shot used (ie: design grads should not shoot the work themselves – they have too much other stuff to do, and it usually looks crappy when they do it); price by photographer could include color retouching of images by the photographer, help with the background/set, etc (negotiate and ask questions!)

Portfolio case (8th/Grad quarter) — $30 - $500; can be bought off-the-shelf and altered, or special boxes/books can be made and there are material costs for this depending upon complexity and vendor.

Communication Arts Magazine subscription — $39/year with a student discount. Books and magazines — price varies, shop smartly.
