DESCRIPTION OF A VIDEO CARD (MECHANISM)
A Video Card, also known as a Graphics Card, is an electronic device that enhances the quality of a video output. It is installed inside a personal computer (PC) on a specified slot. This card improves the rendering capacity of a PC which provides support for high resolution or hi-definition 2D and 3D imaging. There are four basic parts of a video card namely,
1. Video Outputs2. Motherboard Contact3. Graphics Processor4. Coolers
VIDEO OUTPUTS
Video Outputs are slots on the left side of a video card where the cable plugs are inserted into. Every slot is cable specific because every kind of cable delivers a different type of video signal that the monitor of the PC will interpret.
THE MOTHERBOARD CONTACT
Motherboard Contact is the area in the video card that stablishes connection onto the motherboard of a PC. It is through this slot where the video card and motherboard exchange information to produce a good quality video output.
GRAPHICS PROCESSOR
The graphics processor is very much the heart of the video card, just like the CPU is the brain of a computer. This is where the information exchanges between the motherboard and the card is processed. In most cases you will not be able to see the graphics processor itself because it is hidden behind the coolers.
COOLERS
Coolers ensure that a video card performs stably and smoothly. Without coolers, the graphics card could overheat and likely cause the computer to crash, lock up or permanently damage the device. These cooling components can be passive (without fans, only heatsinks) or they can be active (with fans and heatsinks). Heatsinks are conductive materials that absorb and dissipate heat.
