ACTION REQUESTED / RECOMMENDATIONAdopt a Resolution authorizing the Director of Public Works to execute an agreementwith Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) in an estimated amount of $47,835.80 for theStatement of Applicant's Contract Anticipated Costs (SACAC), for the installation ofPG&E's electric distribution lines and service extension for the traffic signals and streetlights associated with the State Route 65 / Sunset Boulevard Interchange Project.

BACKGROUND/SUMMARYThe Department of Public Works (DPW) is proposing to replace the current at-gradesignalized intersection with a grade-separated partial cloverleaf interchange with a sixlane over-crossing at Sunset Blvd and State Route 65, the project will reduce trafficcongestion, accidents and delays. The project will allow for the future expansion ofState Route 65 to eight lanes with auxiliary lanes and will accommodate the increasedtraffic demand generated by existing and approved develop'ment in the project area ofsouth Placer County.

The SACAC identifies PG&E's estimated cost to provide the electrical service andengineering to support the installation of Traffic Signals and Lighting associated with theState Route 65 / Sunset Blvd. Interchange. The Electric Distribution line and ServiceExtension cost summary outlines the County's financial responsibilities and provides arefundable option of $891.82 should in ten (10) years additional service be provided toother PG&E customers from this source. The work to install this service will be providedby PG&E.

ENVIRONMENTALThe Placer County Board of Supervisors approved the Mitigated Negative Declarationforthis project and a Notice of Determination was filed on May 23,2006.

FISCAL IMPACTThe Electric Distribution line and Service Extension as outlined in the SACAC isestimated to cost $47,835.80. The funding is included in the FY 2008/2009 Budget.

2. Applicable Documents. The cost summary for the facilities to be installed is attached hereto as Exhibit A.These facilities shall be installed in accordance with the applicable rules on file with the California Public UtilitiesCommission (which may include Gas and Electric Rules 2, 13, 15, 16, and 20), as well as the requirementsset forth in the Provisions and the General Terms and Conditions for Gas and Electric Service by Applicant.

3. Construction Options. The responsibility for providing line extension work is divided between PG&E and the Applicant.However, Applicant may choose to have a qualified contractor perform some of the work that is PG&E's responsibility,

and may choose to have PG&E perform some or all of the work that is the Applicant's responsibility. PG&E will reimburseor collect money based on its estimate of the costs, subject to the applicable rules.
