Structure of language courses
Master’s Degree ProgramsStudents enrolled for the 2021/2022 academic year

International Relations – Academic and Professional Communication Skills

Master’s Degree Program in International Relations includes
Academic and Professional Communication Skills as a mandatory
course
Groups will be defined on the basis of the results of the assessment test
The assessment test will be carried in September 2021 according to
times and conditions that will be communicated from the University
Language Center
International Relations – Academic and Professional Communication Skills

Students who took the final exam during their Bachelor’s degree
program in Luiss will be placed into groups on the basis of the results
they previously achieved (regardless of the date of the exam)
Students coming from another University and Luiss students who did
not attend an English course during their Bachelor’s degree program
are required to sit the assessment test even though their degree
program was entirely taught in English

Any language certificate submitted for the admission to a Master’s
degree program won’t exempt students from taking the assessment
test. However, if the certificate was issued over the last two years,
students can show the teacher a copy on the day of the test

Lessons are delivered during the week (2 hours and 30’). Students with a
level below B2 are required to attend an additional course for two hours
a week: English Grammar Refresher Course
Duration of the course: one semester, the I of the first year
No exemptions
Final exam with a grade out of thirty to obtain 6 ECTS
International Relations – Second mandatory language

Master’s Degree Program in International Relations includes a second
mandatory language. In November 2021 students will be required to enter
their Web Self Service area and select the second mandatory language
Duration of the course: two semesters for students with an entry level
below B1.1 (II semester of the first year and I semester of the second year);
one semester for students with an entry level at or above B1.1 (II semester
of the first year)

Lessons are delivered during the week (2 hours and 30’, once a week)
No exemptions
Exam with a grade out of thirty in order to obtain 6 ECTS
International Relations – Third optional language

In November 2021 students will be required to enter their Web Self
Service area where they can select an optional language course to get 4 of
the total 8 credits for “Other Activities”
Courses are delivered on Saturday morning only (2 hours and 15’)
Duration of the course: two semesters (from the II semester of the first
year to the I semester of the second year)
