I have greatly enjoyed the Masters program at ESU. As someone with a family and who works full time, this program has allowed me to complete my graduate degree from the comfort of my home. The professors are great and are always available to give extra assistance when needed. I feel that I have learned many new ideas that will help to make me a better teacher. ESU Connection to 1936 Olympics

2011 HPER Hall of Honor inductee, Don Holst is an Olympic historian. When he was on campus, he explained that the individuals who won events in the 1936 Nazi Olympics were each given a one year old oak seedling as a gift from the German people. In 1986, Don attended the 50 year reunion of the 1936 Olympic track team where some of the athletes mentioned the trees. Not wanting the cherished memory to fade away, Don tracked down the trees and found only five were still alive. From the tree given to the 800 meter gold medalist, John Woodruff, Don managed to take acorns and raise new Olympic oaks. He gave the new trees to schools and organizations, as well as to the children of the Olympians. For his effort, Don won an

International Arbor Day Society award.

The ESU HPER graduate program is truly amazing. The professors are friendly and professional. The commitment to offer courses that are meaningful, current, and

relevant is unmatched. I chose ESU because the flexibility of the online program allows me to teach full time while continuing my education.
