North Storm at the Paul Kelly Cup

Despite meeting some superior opposition at last week’s

Paul Kelly Cup, the mighty North Storm carried on the

school’s great tradition of, ’giving your best’, remarkably

well.

Although outplayed, there were many fine efforts on the

day, with standout players being: Riley Norris (v. Small

Schools), Darren Bassett (v. South) and Jason Higgins (v.

St Josephs).

Bryson Glanvill was the team’s sole goal sneak and Duncan

Hughes did well to mix it with the older boys.

Netball Knockout Gala Day

Girls are reminded that their big day out at the Netball

Knockout Gala day at Memorial Park will be on Thursday

and that they should bring along a drink and lunch, as well

as their netball gear.

Games start at 10:30am. We wish them all the best!

Gee Gee Report

From Belinda McCallum

Hi everyone,

Just letting you know that 2 teams from north school competed on the weekend at the Northern Zone Interschool

equestrian Team Challenge. This was held at Tatura over Saturday and Sunday.

Team 1 consisted of Emma McCallum, Hannah Dunmore and Abbey Lawson. Team 2 was Rachel Hare, Zoe and Lucy

Metcalfe.

On Friday, the girls helped wash, plait and preen their horses and their equipment, and packed the horse floats and

truck in readiness for the weekend's activities. There was great excitement as most riders and families headed

off Friday evening to camp the night at Tatura, while the rest rose very early Saturday morning to reach the event

with plenty of time to warm up and exercise their horses .

Saturday saw the girls competing in Handy Mount, Show Jumping and Dressage. After a fun filled night camp-

ing, Sunday saw the team looking very dapper with their shirts, ties and jumpers on and their steeds looking pretty

as a picture for the Smartest on Parade. Other events included Best Rider, Handler, Pleasure and Best Educated

Mount and Games events. All the girls and their mounts conducted themselves exceptionally well and displayed

great sportsmanship amongst themselves, their team and other fellow competitors. They represented the school

with great pride. As a team, team 1(Emma,Abbey and Hannah) came 12th overall, and team 2 (Rachel, Zoe and Lucy)

were 16th. There were 36 teams.

The girls all came home with an array of colourful ribbons. Overall and Individually, Abbey was 3rd for K-2 led

riders, Hannah was 3rd for K-2 independent riders, Zoe was 5th for yr 3, Emma was 4th for year 4, Rachel was 4th

and Lucy 5th position for year 5 riders. There were 114 competitors for the weekend.

A big thankyou to the parents and families who took the girls and horses over and helped them prepare and

compete.

There was also a team from South School and the High School. All the Deniliquin teams helped each other out in all

aspects of preparing and caring for their horses and each other, a fantastic effort from everyone. A great time

was had by all over the weekend and hopefully the school can all do it again next year.

Well done girls!!

THIS WEEK’S THINKING TASK was……

You end up in a muddy pool, and something grabs

you. What happens next?

There I was, scrambling under the spider net at stupid Boot

Camp. It was Friday afternoon. I had better things to do than go

to boring Boot Camp. Suddenly, the instructor, Mr Brain told

me to jump into the muddy pool. So, I had to obey…...

By Sophie Stringer

When I was at the river, I was playing near the water when

something grabbed me. It felt gooey and slimy like a slug.

Then, I felt a little tingle going up my spine…...

By Lillian Lostroh

I was going to the dump to chuck away the trash with Dad

when I found a muddy puddle. ―Dad! Can I go in the puddle? ―

"Okay!" He said.

Dad started chatting while I was in the puddle. Something

grabbed me. It was a green, slimy hand and it was pulling me

in…...

By Oscar Erard Farmer

… Tim Tam and Shianna were disturbing us by playing

unicorns and singing. I kind of got a bit carried away and threw

her favourite toy unicorn into the mud puddle outside my

window. As soon as I realised that it went into the mud, I bolted

outside…….

By Lily Marchant

…. I was trying to get out of the mud when a hand covered in

hair and claws, and smelling like a skunk in a trash can,

grabbed me. I began hitting it with a stick, but every time I tried

to get out, it would grab my leg and pull me down…..

By Tom Thorpe

… When I opened my eyes I noticed I was sinking fast. I felt

something grab my leg. It popped its head up. It was a mud

monster. It had green and red eyes, and claws as long as a

door....

By Charlotte Warren

I was being chased by a gigantic bee and I tripped over a rock

and fell into a mud puddle. Suddenly, something grabbed me

and pulled me down. I tried to swim but it was too strong….

By Kira Dickie

Once, I was on an adventure when I felt something gooey under

my feet. It was a muddy swamp.

Suddenly, something grabbed me by my leg. It felt like a troll.

It had sharp teeth and strong jaws, so I jumped out of the

muddy swamp. I ran for my life and never came back.

By Luke Learmonth

I woke up in the morning and saw a particularly satisfying

puddle of mud, outside my window. I got dressed and ready,

and then I ran outside into the mud.

Splat! The mud was brown, thick and oozy. I lie on my back,

staring up at the sky.

Suddenly, something grabs me from behind and drags me down

under the sticky mud. I then find out that I am in a huge, smelly

chamber. I am absolutely petrified.

Behind me, I can hear talking. I turn around and see millions of

monsters behind me. They have 12, long, green and slimy

tentacles and one big eye set right in the middle of their

heads….

By Emma McCallum

I was being chased by a big, evil, huge rat and I fell into this

swamp. I was grabbed by a kid-eating swamp monster. The

swamp monster was slimy and icky.

I screamed and then I swallowed muddy water. I was petrified.

The swamp monster had me in its tentacles. I screamed again. I

just remembered that I had a slingshot with bullets. I shot the

swamp monster and I swam out.

For the information of members

and their guests

On Monday afternoon, when I was walking home from school,

I saw my friends’ Karly and Dotty. We started having a game in

a ginormous puddle that was right in front of us. We tried to

jump it but something pulled me in. It felt like a big monster

with prickly skin.

I had a bit of rope in my school bag. I said to Karly and Dotty,

"pull as hard as you can!"

As soon as I got out we ran as fast as we could, back to my

house and locked everything. I hid in the cupboard in the

kitchen.

By Sophie Willis

I was walking with Bella at school. I wasn't looking where I

was going. I ended up in a muddy pool. I felt something. It was

a child. It said, "help!"

I did not know what to do. Then I had a brainy idea…...

By Chloe Paton

I was being chased by an alien and I didn't see a mud pool in

front of me. I fell in and something grabbed my leg. It was a

ginormous octopus in the mud. It dragged me down into the

mud. It was scary. I nearly drowned in the mud.

By Tom McCallum

I was sitting down, outside, eating my lunch, when all of a

sudden a bull jumped the fence and started chasing me. It

chased me down the paddock and pushed me into a gigantic and

deep mud pool…..

By Tabitha Napier

Someone grabbed me and put me into the muddy river. I said,

"help me! I'm stuck!"

Then, someone got me out and when I looked up it was a bear. I

ran home.

By Abigail Hicks

I was running near the pool and I tripped over my shoe and fell

into the pool. A crab got me and I tried to get off. But it didn't

come off. I tried and tried and tried. Then, its claw slipped off

and I made my escape.

By Eimear Gogarty

I was running on the track, practising for cross-country. It had

rained for two days and there were lots of muddy puddles. I

started running home and fell into an invisible puddle. It looked

just like clear, dark jelly. My leg was hanging out of the muddy,

invisible puddle. Because it looked like jelly I tasted it and it

tasted like chocolate. It was delicious!

Then, just as quick as nothing, a big, giant, monster, alien thing

pulled me out…..

By Samantha Hughes

There was a boy who had a pool. His friend, that was good at

jokes, drained the water out of the pool and put mud in the pool.

The boy’s mum thought it was him and she kicked him out of

the house. He landed in the mud that was in the pool.

A crab nipped him on the bottom. He shouted, "yow!‖

He punched the crab and it let go and then he escaped.

By Lachlan Peterson

It all started when I was riding my air horse. Suddenly, a plane

went past and spooked her. My air horse went crazy. It bucked

like a mad thing. I fell into a muddy pool and something

grabbed me.

I woke up, by a beach, covered in sand. Then, the ground

started to shake.

Quickly, a man-crab jumped out of the ground. The oversized,

man-crab said in a loud voice, "to escape, you have to win the

ball tournament."….

By Sophie Hay

It all started when I was cleaning out the pool. It was full of

mud and the next thing I knew, I was lying in the pool headfirst

and knocked out.

When I woke up, I was at a rundown circus…..

By Rosie North

I was at the zoo. I wanted to see the Rhino, so I climbed the

gate. It swung open. The Rhino chased me.

I ran into the park and I slipped into some mud.

Something grabbed me. It was a skeleton. I was sinking….

By Tom Learmonth

I was jumping on the tramp near the pool. The pool was full of

mud. Suddenly, I saw five dancing pigs, dancing above the

pool.

I quickly thought, do I get my swimmers on? No!

I dived into the pool and started dancing with the pigs.

Suddenly, something grabbed me. It felt like a picnic basket

with teeth as sharp as chicken bones. I screamed.

I grabbed my goggles from the side of the pool to see what it

was. I was right. It was a picnic basket with sharp teeth. It took

me down and when I came to the surface it tried to eat me, but I

bit it.

By Emily Manzin

The ghost grabbed me. I screamed. I was gobbled up before dad

came out. I kept kicking out before he swallowed me up.

By Reece Weir

I fell in the muddy pool. A gremlin grabbed me. It put me into

space. It was kissing me. It tried to marry me. It brought me

flowers…..

By Duncan Barlagen

I was in a motel room, washing my hands with Jasmine my

friend. Jasmine was holding me and she tripped over. She

pulled me into the toilet, which mysteriously flushed us down

and into a muddy sewage pool in France.

SCUBA gear, suddenly and mysteriously fell onto me and

Jasmine and it started to feel like a vacuum cleaner was sucking

us down.

We landed in some sort of stomach without stomach acids.

Skeletons and despicable clothes were in there as well. We

thought the intestine were a slippery dip, so down we went….

By Catriona Vickery

One day, I thought my friend was coming around the corner,

but it was a meat-eating lion. I hit him in the face with a frying

pan and he chased me.

A monster grabbed me. It said, "are you okay?"

I replied, "no I am not okay. What do you think? I just got

chased 100 blocks by a meat-eating lion and now I am grabbed

by a monster."

The monster got major angry….

By Charlie Wallace

I was sitting in my bedroom, drawing a picture when this texta

came alive. It chased me down the hallway. I ran outside and

jumped into the pool. The texta chased me into the pool. I was

screaming.

Then, these ants came and made a ladder, so I swam over and

climbed out of the pool.

By Eloise Ritchie

One day, Will and I are down at the Creek, when Will pushes

me in. I grab him and pull him in too. We have a huge mud

fight and then, something grabs me.

Little did we know, we had awoken a prehistoric crocodile

which had been kept alive by the fertility of the mud. It pulled

me under, but Will yanked me out of the mud and we ran all the

way home.

By Ben North

I bombed into the pool. It was oozy and nice and soft between

my toenails. Just as I was starting to relax, something grabbed

my ankle. It was a horrifying feeling, especially when I was

being dragged down as quick as Usain Bolt can run….

By Alex Hall

I knew it was over. My whole life was ruined by this thing that

was after me.

―Aaahhh!‖ I screamed.

All of a sudden, I was standing in front of a huge, muddy pool.

The thing was still after me. I think it was hungry. So, I dived

into the muddy pool….

By Olivia Foord

I was playing football and I went up for a mark and landed face

first in the mud. Splat!

I got up, but I couldn't move. I noticed that something had

grabbed my leg. I looked down, and saw a disgusting, small,

furry, green and brown monster….
