Happy Birthday, Purtills! Last Wednesday morning, Mrs Blacker, Mrs Larcombe and our
school captains were invited to attend a very special morning tea at the Purtill’s Bus depot.
The Purtills name has been synonymous with Deniliquin for a
long time and this year they celebrate 65 years in the indus-
try. To commemorate this special event, each school was giv-en a bluetooth wireless entertainment system. We are ex-
tremely grateful to Purtills for this gift and for their ongoing support of our school. Happy Birthday, Purtills!
Tell Them for Me Surveys Over the last two weeks of term, all our Year 4, 5 and 6
students will have the opportunity to be involved in an on-line surveys seeking their thoughts and opinions about vari-
ous aspects of the school. An information letter is included in this newsletter. The responses of students will be used to
assist the school in evaluating some of its current practices and assisting with future planning decisions. Staff and par-
ents will have the opportunity to be part of the Tell Them
for Mr Survey process in Term 3.
Hawthorn Super Clinic AFL NSW, in partnership with AFL Vic, are conducting a Hawthorn AFL super clinic tomorrow, 22nd March at Memo-
rial Park. Year 5 and 6 students are invited to attend and
the cost is $2.00 for the bus. Students will wear sports uni-form and will need sunscreen, hat and drink bottle.
Students will have an opportunity for photos/signatures af-
ter the completion of the clinic.
Harmony Day This Thursday will be a special day at our
school. It is an out of uniform day where all students are encouraged to wear orange in recognition of Harmony Day.
All students who are out of uniform are asked to provide a
gold coin donation which will be collected by our school
leaders and forwarded to the Melbourne Royal Chil-dren’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. Many of our stu-
dents have had to spend time in the Children’s Hospital and have been given excellent medical care. Our school has
been a long standing and proud supporter of this annual event.
Easter Hat Parade To help celebrate Easter, the school will conduct its tradi-
tional Easter Hat Parade on Thursday from 2pm, which will include the drawing of the Year 6 raffle. There are a signifi-
cant number of prizes which can be won from a 50c ticket
(or 3 for $1). Tickets are on sale at recess and lunch each day this week. Parents of students in Kindergarten to Year 4
are invited to join their child’s class from 11.30 to help dec-orate hats and parents are also invited to have a picnic
lunch with their children.
Oral Hygiene Next Wednesday, 30th March, those students in Years 1
and 6 will receive a visit from the Dental team from Com-munity Health in Deniliquin. This is an annual event and we
are grateful to community health for their support.

Healthy Harold Visit The excitement and busyness of the term continues
with the news that Healthy Harold and the Mobile Life Ed Van will be visiting our school in the last week of this
term. All students will have the opportunity of attending the van with their class and learning important information
about developing an active lifestyle and making appropriate decisions around healthy food choices and positive behav-
iour. This cost of this activity is $5.00 per child, which has
been subsidised by the school. Please pay at the school of-fice for your child to attend.
AFL Last week, the Western Riverina trials for AFL were conduct-ed in Leeton. Our student representatives were very well
behaved and enjoyed a successful day. Special thanks to
those parents who drove the students to and from Leeton.
Congratulations to Tom Bradley, Darcy McManus and Brock Redden who have been selected to represent Western River-
ina at the Riverina trials on Friday, 1 April in Jerilderie. From
there a team will be selected to represent Riverina at the Australian Football Carnival in Nelson Bay. The carnival will
be held over several days in May.
Tom Bradley (Edward) also won the longest kick competition
with a kick of 36.4 metres. Well done, Tom!
Playgroup A reminder to all families that Intereach are continuing to conduct a playgroup at our school on Thursday mornings
from 9am to 11am. It is open to all pre-school children and
their families and everyone is very welcome.
Happy Easter All the staff at EPS would like to wish the students and their
families a safe and enjoyable Easter break. If travelling,
please do so safely. School resumes on Tuesday 29th March for 2 weeks before the end of Term 1 break commences. We
hope that the Easter bunny or bilby finds its way to your place!

Due to lack of volunteers, there will be no special Meal Day
at the end of term. I desperately need help on Fridays be-tween 12.00pm and 1.00pm. Getting the lunches into bas-
kets correctly on that day needs at least 3 people. Please
see me in the canteen or ring the school if you can help. Thank you. Shirlee Jennings
