Mission Statement The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education
Meeting Information for December 3 2016
Hostesses for the December meeting are Lisa Brown Karen Caldwell and Janice Thompson Devotion will be given by Karen Kershner Delta Rho will meet with Gamma Sigma at Pinehurst Membersrsquo Club in Pinehurst Members are encouraged to respond to or initiate a call to your Social Committee contact person so that we have an accurate count for the meeting and brunch Food is ordered based on the number of ldquoyesrdquo responses submitted to the Social Committee
Now our focus turns to the excitement and anticipation which point to the Christmas bazaar to be held with Gamma Sigma in the Pinehurst Membersrsquo Club on December 3rd Our sister chapter is hostess and will provide the program so we can relax and enjoy good food entertainment and a rousing results of the sales raffles and auction Letrsquos gather wares for the event bring enthusiasm and come prepared to have our names drawn for favorite items

Our Twentieth Anniversary Celebration was a top
drawer affair topped off with Eta State North
Carolinarsquos proclamation that Delta Rho is an
ldquoExemplary Par Excellencerdquo chapter How proud
we were to raise the DKG banner over two
decades of promoting personal and professional
growth in women educators and excellence in
education
Sister chapters in our region are feeling
devastating effects of the flooding caused by
Hurricane Matthew In many ways we were
spared local damage I urge you to find ways to
reach out in support to our neighbors One way to
be encouraging and supportive is to communicate
in whatever way you choose with Tasha

Eta State NC appreciates the time the talent and the dedication of those who work to improve the lives of students and women through educational excellence leadership opportunities and community service The state organization will celebrate the contributions of some of these outstanding women at the 2017 convention in Wilmington Consider recommending someone from your chapter or community for one of these Eta State NC awards Applications are available on the state web site The Founders Award recognizes a NC woman who has made outstanding contributions to the improvement of human life through education research andor service She may or may not be a member of DKG but her actions are far reaching and support our vision The Golden Key Award honors members who have made significant contributions to DKG at the chapter level often behind the scenes without glory or personal gain The Rising Star Award will be given again this year to women in their early years of DKG membership nine years or less These members demonstrate strong potential for successful leadership at the chapter and state levels and beyond Do you know someone who deserves this recognition

Betty Marshall Eta State Parliamentarian Past President and former Delta Rho Member presented a special proclamation to President Patricia Pemberton declaring Delta Rho an Exemplary Chapter
Dr Annie Webb Blanton and Dr Anna Hess played by Nancy Turner and Betty Caldwell were two of the founding members of Delta Kappa
Gamma Society International at the University of Texas at Austin (1929) They gave us a look back at the history of DKG

Southern Lee Culinary Arts class Dr Andy Bryan (Lee County Superintendent) Jennifer Lampley (Region VI Director) Patricia Cox (President of Gamma Sigma Pinehurst) and the Hon Robert Reives III (NC State Representative for Lee and Chatham Counties) Membership Committee Barbara Keller Susan Gaster Co-chairs
Delta Rho welcomes three new members (L-R) Julie Randolph Aminee Petraca and Pam Patterson were inducted October 13th President Patricia Pemberton took part in her first induction ceremony

World Fellowship began at the 1946 National Convention In 1952 an alliance was formed with UNESCO and between the years 1958 ndash 1960 the present program took shape World Fellowship provides monetary awards to women from around the world to study in the United States In the next week or two International will be announcing the 2016-2017 World Fellowship recipients Letrsquos hope one will be attending one of our fine NC universities
Over 900 women from 120 countries have received awards from World Fellowship Learn more about World Fellowship on the committee page on the DKG website
