    Dell Remot e Access Conf igurat ion Tool (DRACT) di scovers and conf igures t he Remot e Access Cont rol ler s (RACs) f or syst ems

    on your netw ork fr om a single console.

    The Active Direct ory Set up Package (ADSP) is a self-ext racting package t hat contains the required Dell-specific t ools to

    configure an Active Directory server and RACs to enable AD authentication to RACs. This package contains installers for:

    Active Direct ory Snap-in Active Direct ory Schema Extender Dell Remot e Access Conf igurat ion Tool (DRACT)

    You can also ext ract the individual com ponent install ers to a specified l ocation on your system using this package.

    What s New1. Suppor t for iDRAC72. Support for 64-bit Windows Operat ing syst ems

    Hardware and Software Requirements Display resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher. Microsoft Windows XP with SP3 (32-bit), Windows Vista with SP1 (32-bit or 64-bit), Windows Server 2003 SP2,

    Windows Server 2008 or lat er (32-bit or 64-bit ), Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit ), Microsoft .NET 2.0 SP1 or higherversions.

    Installation

    Prerequisites Microsoft .NET 2.0 SP1 or higher versions with latest updates. Enable rem ote RACADM interf ace for all t he Remot e Access Contr ollers that needs to be confi gured. Internet Explorer 8 or later versions to view the online help. For the 64-bit version of t he Snap-in install er t o work corr ectly, you must install t he 64-bit version of Microsoft

    Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable package on your system.

    Installat ion and Configurat ion NotesYou can install DRACT in one of the following ways:

    Using DRACT installer (.msi) f i le. Using Command Line Interface (CLI). Using Active Directory Setup Package.

    Inst alli ng DRACT Using Inst aller (.msi) File

    To install DRACT using the installer ( .msi) f i le:

    1. Double-click the DRACT installer (.msi) f i le. The Welcome to the Dell Remote Access Configuration Tool SetupWizard is displayed.

    2. Click Next . The License Agreement window is displayed.3. Select I Agree and click Next . The Select Installation Folder window is displayed.4. Click Browse and select t he folder where the software m ust be instal led.5. By default, the folder is C:\Program Files\Dell \RACT. You can click Disk Cost to view t he avai lable and required

    disk space for each drive.

    6. Select one of the following user access options: Everyone - Instal l t he soft ware f or anyone who uses the system Just me - Install the software for the current user account

    7. Click Next . The Confirm Installation window is displayed.8. Click Next to start t he instal lat ion. Aft er the instal lat ion is complete, the Installation Complete window is

    displayed.

    9. Click Close to exit t he appl ication.Inst alli ng DRACT Using Command Line Int erf ace (CLI)

    To inst all DRACT using CLI, run t he foll owing command at t he command pr ompt :

    msiexec /I /.msi

    Where, is the locat ion of t he DRACT installer fi l e and is t he DRACT installer name. The

    Welcome window is displayed. For t he steps, see "Inst alli ng DRACT Using Installe r ( .msi) File" section.

    Inst alli ng DRACT Using Act ive Direc t ory Set up Package

    To install DRACT using the Active Directory Setup Package:

    1. Double-click the self-extracting executable. The Dell SmartPackage window is displayed.2. Click OK to proceed.3. Browse or t ype the path w here you want the component instal lers to be extracted. By default, i t is extracted

    t o c:\temp.

    4. Click Unzip. The Active Directory Setup Package window is displayed.5. Click on t he respective t abs and install t he select ed component on your system .

    UpgradeTo upgrade from DRACT version 1.0 t o version 1.1, per form the st eps ment ioned in t he Install ati on secti on.

    UninstallationYou can uninstall DRACT in one of the following ways:

    Using DRACT installer (.msi) f i le Using Contr ol Panel Using CLIUninstalling DRACT Using MSI Installer

    Make sure t hat you have t he DRACT inst aller f i le on your system . If you do not have t he installer f i le, you can download

    it from the Dell Support w ebsite at support.dell.com.

    To uninstall DRACT:

    1. Double-click the DRACT installer (.msi) f i le. The Welcome t o Dell Remote Access Configurat ion Tool 1.0 SetupWizard is displayed.

    2. Select the Remove Dell Remote Access Configuration Tool 1.1 option and click Finish. The Removing DellRemote Access Configuration Tool 1.1 window displays the status bar.

    3. Aft er t he DRACT t ool is uninst alled, the Install ation Complet e w indow displays the m essage "Dell Remot e AccessConfiguration Tool has been successfully removed."

    4. Click Close to ex i t .

    Uninstalling DRACT Using Control Panel

    To uninstall DRACT using the Control Panel, go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, select Dell Remote

    Access Configuration Tool, and click Remove. Aft er DRACT is uninstall ed, it is removed from t he list.

    Uninst all ing DRACT Using CLI

    To uninst all DRACT using CLI, r un t he foll owing command at the command pr ompt :

    msiexec /x /.msi

    where, is the l ocation of t he DRACT installer fi l e and is t he DRACT installer name. The Welcome

    window is displayed. Perfor m t he steps provided i n Uninstalli ng DRACT Using MSI Inst alle r" sect ion.

    NotesThe DRACT tool takes significant amount of time to discover DRAC 4 IP addresses compared to discovering other Remote

    Access Cont roll ers.

    To view t he online help f rom DRACT using Internet Explorer ( IE), m ake sure t o do t he foll owing:

    1. In IE, go to Tools > Compatibil it y View Sett ings.2. Clear the following options:

    - Include updated website lists from Microsoft- Display int ranet sites in Compatibil it y View- Display all websites in Compatibility View

    3. Click Close.

    Limitations4. Fixed Issues/def

    If you have DRAC 3 cont roll ers on your net wor k, DRACT di scovers t he DRAC 3 IP addresses and displays them as aDRAC 4. The DRACT t ool d oes not suppor t DRAC 3 cont roll ers.

    DRAC ERA/ MC also get s discover ed as DRAC 4, but does not get v er if ied as DRACT does not supp ort ERA/ MC. DRACT does not support iDRAC6 Enterprise for Blades with firmware version less than 2.10. iDRAC6 Ent erprise fir mw are version 2.10 for Blades is discovered as DRAC 5. However, aft er veri ficat ion, i t is listed

    as iDRAC6.

    Firmware updat e for DRAC 4 controll ers using the local direct ory may not w ork for t he follow ing 32-bit MicrosoftWindows operating systems Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008. You can use the TFTP method toupdate t he fir mw are for DRAC 4 controll ers.

    Firmware update for iDRAC6 for Racks and Towers with version 1.7 may not be successful. To resolve this issue,reset RAC.
