INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2017 The Investiture Ceremony for the Prefectorial Board 2017-18 was held in the school ground amidst great cheer and camaraderie as the new leaders were sworn in and took up their new duties in front of their parents. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Anshul Pathak Chairman DPSG International and Treasurer DPSG Society. Mr. R.K. Sharma Director Administration and Secretary DPSG Society also graced the occasion. The proud parents cheered and applauded the newly invested prefectorial board.

NO TOBACCO RALLY Students of DPSG International conducted a No Tobacco rally at RDC Rajnagar Ghaziabad to create awareness regarding the life threatening diseases caused by use of Tobacco, Gutka and smoking. The students raised slogans against smoking and tobacco and also urged the residents of the area to abstain from using them. Students of class IX also went to River Heights Rajnagar Extension and created awareness about eye diseases and their increased occurrence during monsoons. They also shared with the residents the various measure that could be adopted to prevent spread of such diseases. Nukkad Natak on Drug Abuse. As a part of the Community Connect Program, DPSG International students have taken up the initiative to spread awareness against drug abuse and its effects. The students presented a Nukkad Natak on ‘Nasha Mukti’ at P-Block, Auto Chauraha A-Block and Central Park Sanjay Nagar as a part of the programme. They highlighted the harmful effects of drug use and the role of society and loved ones in rehabilitating addicts. The students’ efforts were appreciated and lauded by all onlookers.

SYNERGY 2017 AT GURUKUL – THE SCHOOL Students of DPSG International participated in various events organized by Gurukul- The School as a part of Synergy -2017 on 28th- 29th July 2017 and brought laurels to the school by their excellent performance. Harshit Panwar and Parisha Bansal bagged the First position in the Bottle Decoration Competition. Aditi Awasthi, Ananya Mittal, Shelly Garg, Aliza Asif, Vanshika Goel, Khushi Chaduhary, Vishakha Yadav Niyati Mittal and Haritesh Gautam won the second position in Dance Competition in VI- VIII category. Aastha Garg, Nihir Agarwal, Varun Malhotra, Deepanshi Gupta, Tarun Parashar, Nandita Ayyar and Sarthak Upadhyaya won the Second Position in Singing Competition and Suryansh Chelani and Lakshya Uppal won the First Position in Be a Virtual Guide and Best Dressed competition.

INTER HOUSE EXTEMPORE` COMPETITION An Inter House Extempore competition was organized to develop public speaking skills among the students. Classes VI-XI participated in the competition which was held in two groups. Students of classes VI-VIII spoke on value based topics like Positive Thinking, Freedom, etc. whereas classes IX-XI students spoke on political and social issues like – The Next Super Power – India or China, Is Democracy the best form of Government, GST, etc. In the VI-VIII group Vasu Johri of Ganga House stood first and the second spot was tied between Aditri Narula and Lavish Daksh of Cauvery and Yamuna house. In the senior group of IX – XI Shreyash Dube of Satluj House won the first place followed by Devak Singh of Yamuna House at the second position.

HEALTH AWARENESS RALLY Students conducted a health awareness rally and survey at Rishabh Vihar Modinagar to create awareness against water borne diseases during monsoon months. The students raised slogans and carried placards highlighting the ‘Dos’ and ‘Don’ts’ to be followed during the monsoon to safeguard against diseases. They also conducted a survey on the public health and sanitation facilities available in the areas and the measures adopted by the residents and local authorities to control spread of diseases. The residents responded enthusiastically to the students’ questions and praised their efforts in creating awareness. The students also pasted health awareness stickers on the houses where they conducted survey.

YOGA MORNING As a follow-up of the Health Awareness initiative taken up by DPSG International organized another yoga and aerobics morning at Sanjay Nagar Ghaziabad and Central Park, Chiranjeev Vihar Ghaziabad. The residents performed the asnas alongside the students and lauded their efforts towards promoting a healthy lifestyle. The enthusiasm of the students was so contagious that many senior citizens also did the easier asanas. Another yoga morning was also held at Sanjay Nagar Ghaziabad and Central Park, Chiranjeev Vihar Ghaziabad where the residents performed the asnas alongside the students and participated in the school’s initiative to promote health and fitness.

‘BEST TO WOW’ In an endeavor to make the Earth an eco-friendly place, the students and teachers of The DPSG International held a workshop on ‘Waste to Wow’ showcasing a journey waste material to ‘wow’ things with easy innovations. The workshop was held at Gulmohar Towers, Chiranjiv Vihar, Ghaziabad. The children of the Gulmohar Society enthusiastically attended and participated in the workshop. They experienced and explored the world of art and craft reusing the waste plastic bottles. The ‘Sculpture’ session was the most interesting part for the session for them where they shaped mud into various useful items.

SCIENCE WEEK The students celebrated science week from 10th July to 14th July to enthuse and involve students and to stimulate their understanding of how science impacts their lives.

The week-long activities were eager contested and participated in. Inter House Science quiz for classes VI-XII, Inter Class Video Presentation, and Inter House Science Paper Presentation for classes IX-XI. Intra Class Science in Daily Life for classes I-III, Inter House Paper Presentation on Scientific Innovations for classes IV- V and Seed germination activity for Starz was also organized. A Fun with Science session was also held where teachers demonstrated Science experiments. Inter Class Science Exhibition organized for classes VI- XI was the culmination of the activities where students displayed their working models of Science in Everyday Life.

SPONTANIA 2017 DPSG International hosted Spontania 2017, the annual fest of music, dance, theater and art on 27th July, 2017. Over 450 students from 14 schools participated in various events and displayed their creative skills in theater, sculpture, music, dance and yoga. The participants presented a colourful and diverse picture of Indian culture and tradition through their presentations. The overall first position was bagged by DPSG International, who as per the custom handed over the trophy to the first Runner Up Cambridge School, Noida.

FRENCH DAY CELEBRATIONS

DPSG International celebrated the French Independence Day on 14th July 2017. Many activities were conducted to celebrate the day. Grade VI did T-shirt painting depicting different French monuments. The importance of history and culture of France was explained by the students of grade VII and they also participated in the Graffiti competition. The students of grade VIII participated in French Spell Bee competition.

Class Assembly The assembly conducted by class V Daisy on Appreciation started with a “sarva dharma prarthna” followed by the vocabulary word. An enriching thought followed by an interactive discussion on the current happenings around the world including GST and upcoming Presidential Elections was also held. A Skit and a poem titled “Everything You Do” was performed by students.

ISA Accreditation The school organized a colourful bonanza of activities like Article Writing, Portrait Making, (Mathematical Inventor), Portrait Making, (Scientific Inventors), Quiz, Paper Presentation, (Mathematical Inventions), Paper Presentation, (Scientific Inventions) as a part of the ISA portfolio. Through these activities the students learnt various values like inter-personal skills, team spirit, cross cultural acceptance and global citizenship. The ISA journey brought about a great value addition in the lives of students, preparing each one of them to keep abreast with the rapidly changing world.

They began the assembly with Calisthenics, important for gross motor development. This was followed by thought for the day and a recitation of a poem titled Cleanliness is next to Godliness. The students were updated with latest happenings around the world. A Hindi poem was recited followed by a song ‘I love my family’.

Create a home together Students of class 2 Daisy learnt the importance of houses as they made kachcha house using old 3D boxes, mud and grass under the theme “Where we are in place and time”. The objective of the activity was to give them a hands on experience of building a kachcha house and helping them identify various materials. The students enjoyed playing in the mud and working collaboratively to make a kachcha house for themselves.

Learning Landforms Students of class 2 Daisy learnt the importance of landforms and their uses by making models of various land forms for a hands on learning. An interactive session was also conducted where the students inquired about the highest point, sea level, mountain level, types of roofs and houses, population, minerals, flora and fauna, transportation etc. and showed their interest in learning about their country.

Fun with Science To celebrate the essence of science week, the teachers of the primary wing of took the initiative and brought forth fun science experiments for the children. Teachers performed interesting experiments for students and also explained the logic behind the experiments. The experiments included Drinking Glasses, Lava Lamp, Water Balloon, Dancing Raisins, Identification of Eggs, Water Gravity and many more. The science week concluded with fun and learning. CLUB ACTIVITIES In this week’s club activities the Green Brigade Club made collages on causes and effects of natural disasters and learnt about the effects of the insensitive and irresponsible behavior of humans. They also discussed the role of youth in changing the mindset of people to help maintain the ecological balance. Science club students made the tangrams using coloured A4 sheets. The Home Science Club students learnt to make Dahlia flowers out of colorful papers. In the Debating Society today’s hot topic was ‘Should students be allowed to have haircut of their choice’ and the students came up with some strong arguments in favour of the motion. Community club students made advertisements on social topics of Girl Education, Anti-Tobacco and Clean India and also presented role plays on their topics.

Science in daily life To inculcate an interest in science, a competition on Science in Daily life was organized for classes I to III where students explored various things that they use in daily life related to science. They performed interesting experiments like Mystery Marker, Volcano, Circuit, Dissolving Eggs, Blowing Balloon using Baking Soda and Vinegar. The objective of the competition was to provide an opportunity to the children to develop communication and presentation skills and at the same time understand the importance of science in daily life.

A Paper Presentation Competition on the topic ‘Science Innovation’ was held for the students of Classes IV & V as a part of the Science Week. The representatives of the all houses spoke confidently on the recent science innovations and came up with excellent presentations. They used animation and slide transition to make their slides attractive. The judges, teachers and students were deeply engrossed in the work of the students.

PAINTING COMPETITION AT DAFFODILS PLAY SCHOOL A Painting Competition was organized by DPSG International at Daffodils Play School, Modinagar for Pre-Primary and Primary Classes. Play group students coloured the given pictures while Nursery students did Crepe paper ball making and pasting on the pictures. K.G students recreated the scene using the pictures given to them. Class I students drew their favorite cartoon or any scenery and colored it.

ASHA – A HOPE The Class X presented a theater act on the burning social issue of women empowerment and highlighted the gender discrimination prevalent in our society. The presentation began with the lighting of the lamp by Principal Anita Sethi and parents followed by the presentation of scholar badges for session 2016-17.

INTER HOUSE BASKETBALL COMPETITION s a part of the Annual sports calendar, Inter House Basketball matches were held for students of classes VI-VIII. In the first knockout match for boys Cauvery House was defeated by Yamuna House by slim margin and in the second knockout match Ganga defeated Satluj to secure its position in the final match. The boys finals were won by Yamuna House by a respectable margin. In the girls event the first knockout was played between Satluj and Yamuna which Yamuna House won convincingly. In the second knockout match Cauvery defeated Ganga by a good margin and further went on to win the finals against Yamuna by a slim margin.

INTER HOUSE CRICKET TOURNAMENT Inter House Cricket matches for classes IX – XII were held as a part of the Annual sports calendar. In the first knockout match Satluj House beat Yamuna House and in the second knockout match Cauvery defeated Ganga to secure its position in the final match. The finals were won by Yamuna House by a respectable margin. In the girls event the first knockout was played between Cauvery who defeated Satluj by a convincing margin.

MOTHER DAUGHTER PROGRAMME The school organized a Mother Daughter programme for girls of Classes VI to VIII. A reputed Gynecologist Dr. Poonam Grover conducted various sessions related to physical, psychological, and social changes during adolescence. The mothers complemented the school for organizing the session and requested that more such session should be held on regular basis for the girls and their mothers.

2nd Inter School Junior District Athletics Championship 2017-18 Saanvi Choudhary of Class XII bagged the gold medal in the 100 mts sprint and silver in the 200mts race at the 2nd Inter School Junior District Athletics Championship held at Mahamaya Stadium Ghaziabad.

WORLD POPULATION DAY AND FRENCH DAY A special assembly was conducted by Ganga House to observe the World Population Day and commemorate the National Day of France. Children spoke on the storming of the Bastille on 14th July, a turning point of the French Revolution and the unity of the French people. A beautiful French song was also presented by the girls of class VI. Our students today are well-aware of the problems faced by our country due to the ever increasing population and presented a skit showcasing the causes and effects of over population. Children also displayed placards suggesting possible measures to curb population growth and enhance the quality of life of the people. 3rd All India Open Invitational Speed Skating Championship Our students participated in the 3rd All India Open Invitational Speed Skating Championship held at VVIP Society Raj Nagar and brought laurels to the school. Anirudh Tyagi of class X bagged the gold medal and Osho Teerth Bhardwaj won the silver medal in the U-16 inline category. Todh, Phod, Jodh Our students attended a one day workshop “Todh, Phod and Jodh” at Indirapuram Public School Ghaziabad. The workshop was aimed at inculcating scientific temperament among children and help them explore various aspects of science and technology. The students got an insight on scientific principles underlying various daily activities through simple experiments, working of machines, use of individual parts and interesting combinations that can be created from them. It was highly enriching experience and inspired students to explore various aspects of technology.

Hurdle Race Competition To develop gross motor skills the students of Pre-Nur - Prep participated in a Hurdle Race. In Nur the 1st prize was bagged by Bhavya Joshi and Anusha Dixit won the 2nd prize in group I. Hosea Azad bagged the 1st prize and Eliam won the 2nd prize in group II. In Prep, 1st prize was bagged by Akaiyshaa Chaurasia and Pavitr Garg won the 2nd prize in Group I. Taru Bhardwaj won the 1st prize and Ranveer Bhanot won the 2nd prize in group II. Tearing pasting Competition To develop fine motor skills a tearing and pasting competition was organized for the students of Pre-Nur - Prep. In Pre-Nur Ist prize was won by Eliam. In Nur 1st prize was won by Ayaan while Hosea Azad bagged the 2nd prize and Aadhya Pathak bagged the 3rd prize. In Prep class, 1st prize was won by Akaiyshaa Chaurasia, and Ranveer Bhanot won the 2nd prize while Gaurang Garg bagged the 3rd prize.
