WEBZINE Webzine topics for the month of February 2014 Grade- III Illustrate your ideas on ‘My Favourite Season’ or ‘My Favourite Festival’. Grade- IV Illustrate your thoughts on the ‘Importance of festivals’ or ‘Seasons and Festivals’. Grade- V How has the coming season made changes in your routine life? Reflect your ideas using any creative expression.

ASSEMBLIES Class Assembly 4 – 2 - 14 Grade III C and III B students presented a Class Assembly on the theme of ‘Festivals’. The teachers in charge were Ms. Shradha and Ms. Genga. The opening prayer was a devotional song by Parv Bhadra followed by the Islamic message by Wafa. The Arabic conversation and the medley of dances were apt for the occasion. Certificates for Talent Tap were given to the students of Grade III.

Class Assembly 4 - 3 - 14 Grade V F and V H students presented a Class Assembly on the theme of ‘Transport and Communication’. The teachers in charge were Ms. Lisha and Ms. Vidya. The students presented amazing facts on the means of transport. The Arabic conversation and the group recitation were apt for the occasion. This was followed by a PowerPoint presentation on futuristic modes of transport and communication. The certificates for the winning team of Under 10 Cricket were given to the students.

Class Assembly 5 - 3 - 14 Grade V G students presented a Class Assembly on ‘The Culture of France’. The teacher in charge was Ms. Rasha. The Arabic conversation and the skit depicted France.

10th Year Annual Day Celebrations Grades I – III Sunday, 23 Feb. 2014 DPS Dubai proudly hosted its 10 Year Annual Day Celebrations with a weeklong extravaganza performed by students of KG I to Grade V.

The events of Grades I – III echoed the theme ‘The Race for Excellence Has No Finish Line’. With magnificent creativity, the event celebrated the journey of Self, School and Nation towards excellence. The celebration began with students presenting a vibrant field event on the School’s Green Field on Sunday, 23 Feb. 2014.The Honorable Chief Guest, Ms.Meenakshi Sahni, Principal, Modern School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi and our dynamic Principal, Ms.Rashmi Nandkeolyar, inaugurated the event.

The event showcased the talent of students and involved 100% participation. The spectacular extravaganza presented a rare combination of concentration and skill in a wide array of events such as Music and Choir, March Past, Drills and Races.

The Drill performed by the students of Grade III, celebrated the uniqueness and success of self. Dressed in pink and silver, with hand-held fans fluttering in the air, the students depicted the value of hard work in order to achieve what one aspires for. The presentation aptly reflected that each and every child at DPS Dubai is motivated to reinvent himself and conquer new heights. Musical - The Third Eye

The Annual Day Celebrations is one of the most significant events at DPS Dubai highlighting a year of achievements and laurels. The Annual Day Celebrations for Grades IV and V was a spectacular event with a Musical entitled ‘The Third Eye’ holding centre stage. The theme for the Musical is the brain child of the Principal Ms.Rashmi Nandkeolyar whose vision and creative genius made the show a stupendous success. The function commenced with the recital of a Sura from the Holy Quran followed by a delightful opening ceremony in keeping with the theme of the Musical. The Chief Guest, Ms.Amal Al Redha, fund raising specialist from Dubai Cares inaugurated the event. Our Guests of Honour were Ms. Bandana Lazarus, Vice Principal DPS Academy, Mr. Manoj Poduval and Mr. Anil Achenkunj from Metlife Alico. The Welcome Address was delivered by our Principal, Ms. Rashmi Nandkeolyar. The cultural programme began with the talented choir the comprising of primary students rendering a beautiful song set to the classical raga; Brindavani Saarang. The Parents were mesmerized and enjoyed their journey through the enchanted and mystic musical, “THE THIRD EYE” set against the stunning backdrop of a circus. The students of Grades IV and V set the stage on fire with their stunning performances and won the hearts of the audience through the sheer display of their acting prowess, dancing skills and

exemplary team work. The play aptly titled, ‘The Third Eye’ was about self-belief, and the triumph of good over evil. The drama reiterated the fact that we all have a hero within ourselves, a resilient drive, and an invincible will to do what we want! THIS IS THE STUPENDOUS POWER OF THE THIRD EYE. This show of talent, imagination and organization was the essence of the Annual Day Celebrations. The celebration ended with a vote of thanks proposed by the Headmistress, Primary School. Celebrations at DPS Dubai are occasions for enjoyment as well as providing a platform to display the myriad talents of our student community. We take this opportunity to instill sterling values, intellectual curiosity, creativity and social responsibility towards man and nation. The Musical, ‘The Third Eye’ accomplished this goal successfully. Painting Competition by NIDO 27 February 2014

In accordance with Mother’s Day, Nestle NIDO conducted the “I LOVE MAMA” painting competition at DPS Dubai for children between 7 and 10 years of age.

The contest was to cherish the special bond of love between a mom and child. Students were encouraged to participate in the “I LOVE U MAMA” competition and paint pictures expressing their love for their mom. A panel of judges from NESTLE NIDO will select the best painting from the school to win a gold-heart pendant. War of Words – Debate Competition Date: 27 Feb 2014 Venue: Safa Private School Grade V students of DPS Dubai were among the ten schools who participated to 'Debate' against each other to win the 'War of Words' competition.

Accolades Cricket – Al Sadiq Inter School U-10 Cricket Tournament DPS Under 10 team 3 March 2014 Defending Champions Delhi Private School, Dubai put up a scintillating performance as they beat hosts Al Sadiq School by 7 wickets to retain the Second Al Sadiq Inter School U-10 Cricket title at the historic Sharjah Cricket stadium on Monday.

The much awaited final between the two unbeaten teams was expected to be a keen affair. But in the end the well drilled DPS Dubai lads just proved to be too strong for their rivals. From DPS, Aditya Shetty followed up his fine exploits with the ball as he stroked his way to set the stage for DPS, Dubai to cruise Akash also played a stellar role in the win.

Aditya Shetty was later named the ‘Man-of-the-Final Match’ for his all-round performance.

Akash Radhakrishna of DPS, Dubai was adjudged the ‘Player of the Tournament’.

The ‘Most Promising Player’ went to Tanish Suri of DPS, Dubai.

Prosanta Chanda, coach of the DPS, Dubai team attributed the team’s win to the hard work put in by the players and the support of the school and the efforts of the parents.
