Scholarship Publications Books

• Reese, Terry (In development). The MarcEdit Field Guide. Available from: http://marcedit.reeset.net/learning_marcedit/ The MarcEdit Field Guide is an experimental open access publication that is being created to provide a document that will provide both a traditional monographic style publication and a rich media presentation. The project has been under heavy development for about 5 months. I’m hoping to complete version on by Fall 2018.

• Reese, Terry and J. Kyle Banerjee (2019). Building Digital Libraries, Second Edition. NY: NY. Neal Schuman Publishers. pp. 244 [In Press] Co-author. This is a second edition to a book written in 2006 at the request of the publisher. The

previous text was frequently used as a textbook in Library and Information curriculum. The second edition was written to target largely, practitioners and educators, and given the age of the original text, was more akin to a rewrite than a revision. I was responsible for writing or revising chapters 4, 5, 6, 7, and 9. Chapters 4 and 9 represented new content, replacing materials that were no longer applicable from the previous edition.

• Reese, Terry and J. Kyle Banerjee (Dec. 2007). Building Digital Libraries: A How-to-do-it Manual. NY: NY. Neal Schuman Publishers. pp. 277. Co-author. Solely wrote chapters 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Co-wrote chapter 1 and the conclusions.

Book Chapters • Reese, Terry (2017). “Working with MARC data”. In Migrating library data: a practical manual.

Edited by Kyle Banerjee and Bonnie Parks. Chicago: ALA. Neal-Schuman Imprint, 2017. https://www.alastore.ala.org/content/migrating-library-data-practical-manual 100% authorship of my chapter. I was solicited to write a chapter for this book due to my deep knowledge working with MARC data and my experience migrating libraries to different library management systems.

• Reese, Terry (2014). "Disassembling the ILS: Using MarcEdit and Koha as an Example of How Users are Leveraging System APIs to Develop Custom Workflows." In More Library Mashups: Exploring New Ways to Deliver Library Data. Edited by Engard, Nicole C. Medford: Information Technology Today, Inc., 2014. http://books.infotoday.com/books/More-Library-Mashups.shtml. 100% Authorship. I was solicited to write a chapter for this book due to my work with the Koha community around integration of 3rd-party tools with the ILS API.

• Digital Content Management Workflow Task Force. Digital Content Management Workflow Task Force Report. (Published, 2016) Retrieved from https://library.osu.edu/document-registry/docs/691 The Digital Content Management Workflow Report outlined, for the first time, the workflows used by OSUL to move digital materials into various preservation systems. • Master Objects Repository (MOR) Task Force. Master Objects Repository Task Force Report. (Published, 2014). Retrieved from https://library.osu.edu/document-registry/docs/401/download?1420058914 The Master Objects Repository Task Force was developed as a next step in the Libraries’ discussion around what it means to be a trusted repository and a cultural heritage organization providing long-term preservation of digital objects. The Task Force represents the first steps in realizing the recommendations laid out in the Ohio State University Libraries (OSUL) Digital Preservation Policy Framework, moving beyond the theoretical discussion and laying out specific definitions and practices around the management of digital assets within the Libraries’ storage environment. The purpose of this report is to lay out the outcomes of those discussions, provide a set of recommendations, and point to areas where additional investigation, by this group or others, is needed as the Libraries continues to reshape our digital preservation infrastructure.
