v.1.3! 4
Music and Entertainment Industry The structure in the music business has been extremely rigid and institutionalised for decades with a big collapse in the industry some ten years ago. New possibilities and trends are now arising making the music business one of the most exciting industries to work in right now. Not least through an rapidly increasing integration with the Gaming and exponentially growing App industries.
Together with new technology and a growing Internet intrusion in our daily lives, many things have changed, including the way we consume music, communicate and behave. This has altered the conditions for virtually all instances in the market, both positively and negatively. In doing so, however, many new doors to the music industry are being opened daily.
With an on-going reform and unprecedented possibilities for the future, this is a highly topical industry. SAE Stockholm´s daily involvement with the music and entertainment industry gives us an unprecedented authority in both monitoring and forming the emerging industry. A Degree at SAE Stockholm and collaboration with our Music Business Diploma and Songwriting/Music Production students keeps you at the centre of the edge !
! ! ! ! ! ! ! of these exciting changes.!
Cost-efficient and Flexible Degree BA/BSc (Hons) Audio Production is one of SAE Institute´s most tried and tested Degree Programmes. It was developed, and is continually updated, to address the need for diverse and dynamic professionals in an industry in constant renewal since 1997.
SAE´s Degree Programmes are both time and cost efficient. By reduced vacation periods and intensive learning activities that include adult learning theories and principles, such as problem based methods, the learning process is accelerated. A BA/BSc (Hons.) Audio Production can be achieved in two years, for example, instead of the traditional 3 years.
Upon successful completion of the Diploma stage (APP/AEP = 1st year of Degree), you will receive an SAE Diploma of Audio Engineering and Production, and will then be eligible to progress to the BA/BSc (Hons.) Audio Production validated by Middlesex University. The SAE Diploma will carry 50% of the credits towards the Degree Programme and successful completion is a prerequisite for progression to the Degree year (2nd year of entire programme). Your final Degree certificate is a full Middlesex University Degree.
v.1.3! 5
You will have a selection of practical and written assignments, as well as written exams, all of which contribute to your final grade. The assessments are a combination of individual and group work.
As the name suggests, this programme focuses on Audio Engineering/Production. Equally important for the contemporary Audio Engineer/Producer is the ability to thrive in a freelance environment. Therefore the Degree year of the programme also underpins the importance of communication and marketing, as well as business, administrative, financial and legal aspects of the music and entertainment industry.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!v.1.3! 6
Students have 12hr/day access to our Resource Centre, giving them access to the best books, journals and study advice as well as internet access and a quiet focussed place to study. For example students have access to AES´ entire online digital library.

!!!!There is an optional exit point after completing the Diploma Stage (1st year). With the approved grade you will then hold an SAE Diploma in Audio Engineering and Production. If you already have an SAE diploma then you can automatically progress to the Degree year. In some cases professional work can count as part of your studies!!!The theoretical part of the programme (50%) is examined by a number of tests and a final exam. !BA or BSc? - The choice is yours Degree programmes result in either a BA (Hons) (Bachelor of
Arts, with Honours) or BSc (Hons) (Bachelor of Science, with Honours). The award is determined by the nature of the final project which is the final module of the programme. This ensures that our students all get the same level of creative practical training while earning 180 European Credit Transfer
Points, and their unique approach and path is reflected by the project they produce. A BA (Hons) project will primarily be based on empirical and qualitative research (creative), whilst a BSc (Hons) project will involve more scientific and quantitative research methods (scientific).
The decision as to which award path you take is made only during the 2nd module (601).!Teaching methodsThe teaching consists of a combination of formal lectures, industry lectures, seminar groups (both lecturer and student led) and practical workshops. In addition, drop-in classes are held continuously throughout the entire programme during which the student can raise specific questions, receive one-to-one feedback and help.
Practical skills are taught through demonstration in lecture rooms and studios as well as hands-on learning by doing under supervision.
Language of delivery The Degree year is delivered (taught) in English.!Written assignments may be submitted in either English or Swedish.!!!!!!!!v.1.3! 10
