De-commodification A commodity is something you can buy or sell. It depends on its status and its value on it relative scarcity : once the reproduction and distribution of that commodity becomes effectively free, then it necessarily loses that value and status.

For example, music can be bought and sold so it is off value and status but now if it is made free to the public then it may loose its value and status.

My artist will be exposed to platforms like: iTunes, Spotify, App Stores, YouTube, CD Stores, SoundCloud, Radio and many more.

My Digipak will have special features that you do not get by just downloading or getting it form somewhere else e.g. a signed CD and/or with words of encouragement. Perhaps I may sell my Digipak by advertising some type of competition that fans will be able to meet the artist. They will be able to keep the Digipak as a collection.

A solution of de-commodification can be to attract the audience with things that they are interested in. E.g. products that come with a CD or Digipak
