Our WATCH staff is only paid until 5:30, and it causes inconvenience when they need to wait for par- ents to pick up children. Thank you! I invite you all to the Christ- mas Concert on December 17 @ 2:00. Santa Claus will be here for children to visit. The PTO will hold their annual Christmas Raffle, and you will be treated to wonderful holiday music by our students. I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Remember that you are always welcome at our school. I appreciate when I have the opportunity to visit with community and family members about the great things happening here. “Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful. Since we’ve no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!” Okay, I love this song, but I do have to selfishly say that I wish it would quit snowing. I am weary of shoveling snow and unfavorable driving condi- tions. That being said, it is a great time to remind par- ents of some safety precau- tions. Make sure your chil- dren come to school prepared to be outside for recess. They should have warm coats, gloves or mittens, hats, snowpants, and boots. If your children ride the bus, be sure someone is available to pick them up from the bus stop in the afternoon and someone waits with them at the bus stop in the morning. Due to road conditions, the bus may run behind sched- ule. Use caution in the parking lot. Remember that it gets slick out there so please watch for pedestrians. We try to keep sidewalks cleared off, but some- times there are icy patches so walk care- fully. I also want to inform you that beginning December 6, the front doors to the school will be locked at 4:15. Happy Holidays from Kindergarten!! We have fif-teen students in our class-room, four girls and 11 boys. We are learning the beginning skills that are necessary to begin reading . Through the use of Zoo Phonics, we have practiced the sounds, signals, animal name, and letter name of the letters of the alphabet. With this beginning knowl-edge, we have now begun read-ing through the use of pre-decodable books and Readwell.

We are learning sight words to help us become fluent readers. We have delved into mathe-matics, and learned about plane shapes such as squares, rectangles, triangles, and circles; and also solid shapes such as spheres, cones, rectan-gular prisms, and cubes. We continue to practice the writing and identification of our nu-merals 1-30. We continue to practice the writing of our names using a capital letter at the beginning followed by

lower case letters. It has been a joy to see the growth of each one of these kindergarten stars. We are always looking for classroom helpers, so if you would like to volunteer to help us practice reading, practice our numbers, read for AR, just call me at 965-2231 and I would be happy to set you up with a time. The more we practice the better we will get!!! Mrs. Neumann

We hope this winter weather finds you in the holiday spirit and wish you all a Happy Holiday.

I cannot believe that we are celebrating the holi-days already. In third grade we have been learning and mastering so many new skills that I am sure they will be glad to rest their minds for a little while. Here are a few things that we have done so far this school year: learned place value up to the ten thousands, multiplica-

With the Christmas concert on Dec. 17th, the PTO will once again

be holding a raffle. We will have two baskets. We are asking that grades K-4 do a "red" Christmas basket

and donate any red holiday items toward it, and grades 5-8 do a "green" Christmas basket,

donating green holiday items.

Please bring all donations to the school before Dec. 15th. We will gladly accept any other donations that any

in the community would like to make.

The raffle tickets will be 50¢.

Thank you for your support.
