The interesting thing about the sighting was that the two people inv6lved became bored with watching the UFO and became very sleepy and went to sleep as it movd off slowly, west to east. The wife had not yet been to sleep when she saw the object and had awakened he husband to look at it.

It is interestin to note that I was dreaming about UFO's at approximately that time, because on awakening at 6:30 I recalled that I had been dreaming of them an hour previous to waking upo Name withheld by request.

PASSPORT TO MAGONIA: From Folklore to Flying Saucers

JACQUES VALLEE Although the governmentsponsored Condon Report claimed that "flying saucers" pose no threat and therefore are unworthy of study, in fact more than one thousand rei iable witnesses over the past century have claimed to have observed and in some case even communicated with extraterrestrial objects and creatures.

In this book, Jacques Vallee, a mathematician and astronomer, discusses and explores many of the most interesting reports through 1968 and turns his attention to the fact that throughout history, in all parts

"airship" in the 1890's. The circumstances change, but it is possible to detect basic similarities. Folklore and "flying saucers" are not, in fact, Jacques , Vallee finds, so different. Such incidents, experiences, and patterns provide the background •

material upon which Jacques Vallee bases this exhaustive study of the phenomenon of visitation, .from the very earliest days to the present. His conclusions, tentative though they are, are startling in their breadth and implication.

Finally, Passport to Magonia contains a comprehensive catalogue detailing all the pertinent facts of some 900 reliable sightings of Unidentified Flying Objects in the past 100 years.

Abominable Snowmen: Legend Come to Life

they really live on the fnnges of the towenng Himalayas and the elige of myth-haunted Tibet?· They do, but we are far more likely t catch one in tire United States! Northern California and its almost impenetrable Klamath Forests may hide the astonishing answer. From how many areas in the world have factual reports of wild, strange, hairy en emanated? Every continent, except Australia and the Antarctic!

Now at last, Ivan Sanderson, who has been accumulating material for 30 years on this subject, explains in language as plain and clear as a news Rash just why no "Snowman" has ever been captured and kept for a zoo or a museum (one wa. caught during the last century, in Canada).

Has SirEdmund Hillary said the last word, when he· recently denied the existence of the creature he formerly strongly believed in? The whole story of his latest trip to _the Himalayas is given to the public within this book.

What has Established Science had to say on the status of the "Snowman"? Why have the scientists played down the story? Why is the press so confused? The au.thor

. explains the

confusion of both, some of 1t dehberate.

Learn, for what may be the first time, the true story of the continents, and above all, 'he vegetation which covers them. Learn why many areas thought to be well known are less known today than a hundred years ago. Learn why maps are so deceptive, and frequently entirely useless. Learn what the American Indian knows about this problem and why, until very recently, he "wouldn't talk."

This is a book for those who want to discover the truth. The author, uniquely fitted by both intensive scientific training· and his superb writing ability, tells this astonishing story and breaks down the barriers of Time and Space, showing in a bright light both how and why Mother Earth still clings to her ancient· mysteries, and that the Age of Discovery has never really ended.

IVAN TERENCE SANDERSON, the author of .A!tominable Snowme,, is a world-Amous zoologist and writer. AnimGI Treasure, Follow the Whale, and Animal Tales form only a part of his repertoire. He has also published exhaustively in scientific journals, under the auspices or-the British Museum, the Chicago Museum of Natural History (formerly the field Museum·) and others. He holds degrees with honors from Cambridge University, England, in botany. zoology, and geology, and he has also read in (formally studied) an&!tomy and physical anthropology at the same institution.

Starting in the 1920's, Mr. Sanderson has led scientific collecting trips to such remote places as Nigeria, Guatemala, Malaya, and Dutch Guiana, all supported and backed by scientific institutions,· such as the Percy Sladen Foundation of the British Museum. He has had his own TV show. The author and his wife (who collaborates on research and writing) currently divide their time between a farm in New Jersey and a New York apartment.

The Age of Flying Saucers

Notes on a Projected History of Unidentified Flying Objects by Paris Flammonde

Here is the only comprehensive-yet au

thoritative and concise-history of the phenomena of flying saucers.

THE AGE OF FLYING SAUCERS repre

sents years of research by one of the foremost authorities on the subject, Paris

Flammonde. It concentrates on the significant number of unidentified flying object sightings which began to occur during

World War II and which have continued into the present era. Mr. Flammonde's work is thoroughly objective, letting the reader draw his own conclusions as to whether or not the objects exist. A considerable amount of documented information, case histories, and anecdotal records is included on such questions as:

• Are unidentified flying objects from outer space, and if not, what proof

is there to show their origin on Earth?

• How are UFO hoaxes exposed, an.d what penalties are there for such

frauds? • Have human beings actually con

tacted beings from other planets? • What proof is there for the truth of

"contactees"? • Has the U.S. Government actually

ended its research on the saucer phenomenon?

Hundreds of events and personalities and several pages of photographs make this a complete and thought-provoking history .
