Entrance Hymn for the Nativity of our Lord Before the morning star, from the womb, I have begotten You. The Lord has sworn and will not repent. You are a Priest forever in the order of Melchisedek. Save us, O Son of God, Who was born of the Virgin, We sing to You: Alleluia.

Apolytikion Your birth, O Christ our God, Shines forth on all the world with the light of knowledge. For at your birth, those who had adored the stars Were taught by a star to worship you, To worship you, the Sun of Justice, And to know you, the Dawn from on high, O Lord, glory to You.

Kontakion Today the Virgin gives birth, To Him who is above all things, And the earth presents a cave to the Unapproachable One. Angels with shepherds give Him glory; Wise men follow a star as they journey To Him who is God from all ages, Yet for our sake is born as a little child.

After the Prayer of the Proskomidi I love you, O Lord my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my Savior.

EPISTLE READING: St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians 4:4-7 BRETHREN, when the time had fully come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son then also an heir of God through Christ.

GOSPEL READING: The Gospel according to St. Matthew 2:1-12

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, "Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the East, and have come to worship him." When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him; and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. They told him, "In Bethlehem of Judea; for so it is written by the prophet: 'And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will govern my people Israel.'" Then Herod summoned the wise men secretly and ascertained from them what time the star appeared; and he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, "Go and search diligently for the child, and when you have found him bring me word, that I too may come and worship him." When they had heard the king they went their way; and lo the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came to rest over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy; and going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way.

Iconography Phase 3

Those interested in donating an icon for Phase 3 are encouraged to review the updated list of available icons. The process is the same as Phase 2 -- "first come, first served". Please include the Code Number on the memo line of the check. If another means of donating the funds is used, the Code Number should be either written on paper or sent in an email to avoid any confusion. When full payment is received, the icon is then considered donated and thus not available to anyone else.

If a particular Saint is not included on the present list, please inform Father Bill in written form which other Saint might be considered. When Dr Kordis begins his work, more Saints may be included.

New IRA Law

For those who are 70 ½ years old and older, consider this new charitable contribution transfer directly from your IRA to Holy Trinity Church -- with NO tax and NO penalty. Maximum annual amount per year can total $100,000. This is a win-win for donor and Holy Trinity Church!

Philoptochos Coat Campaign

Please bring new or gently used coats for men and women along with scarves, gloves, and toiletries such as deodorant, lotion, soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes and place them in the bin in the Founders' Walk. For more information please contact Philoptochos at [email protected]
