D er 1977 in Korinth, Griechenland, geborene Schlagzeuger George Kollias ist vielen Death Metal Fans

als Mitglied der legendären amerikanischen Band Nile bekannt. Seit 2004 gibt er mit sei-nem furiosen Drumstil das extrem hohe Tempo bei den harten Rockern an. Ab 2006 ist George auch Mitglied der MMS Familie. Unter anderem ist er Dozent für das Profes-sional Program der MMS in Athen.

Sehr gerne macht George auch Workshops. Eine sehr schöne Geschichte in Diensten von

MMS war 2010 seine "Loud & Fast"-Tour, bei der er seine Drumkünste und vieles Wissenswerte an MMS-Schüler und Druminteressierte an verschiedenen Schulen weitergab. Warum also diese erfolgreiche Sache nicht wiederholen. Im Mai diesen Jahres startete Kollias seine zweite "Loud & Fast"-Tour durch zwölf deutsche Städ-te. "It was absolutely fantastic", beschreibt der

Schlagzeuger seine Erlebnisse auf dieser be-sonderen Deutschland-Tournee. "Ich hatte eine tolle Zeit in Deutschland. Schön dass ich zwölf Tage lang meine Fans so nahe treffen und ih-nen auch was in Sachen Schlagzeug beibringen konnte. Eigentlich würde ich mich freuen, wenn es eine dritte Auflage von "Loud & Fast" mit mir geben könnte. Ich verspreche auch noch besser Deutsch zu lernen." Begeistert war George, wie warmherzig er von seinen Fans aufgenommen wurde und wie cool, relaxt und sachkundig die Fans mit ihm über sein und ihr Lieblingsthe-ma "Drumming" miteinander sprachen. Doch

beinahe wäre "Drumming" bei George nie ein Thema gewesen. Was nur wenige wissen: Bev-or Kollias sich dem Schlagzeug widmete, wollte er in seiner Jugend Gitarrist werden und zupfte auch zwei Jahre lang die sechs Saiten. Ein Glück für alle Death-Metal- und Nile-Fans, dass er sich dann mit 12 Jahren entschloss Schlagzeuger zu werden.

Diese Vielseitigkeit in Sachen Musik kommt dem Griechen jetzt bei einem weiteren Projekt zu Gute. Denn gerade hat Kollias sein erstes Solo-Album nach zwei Jahren fertiggestellt. "Es wird manche Leute überraschen", erzählt er und er ist besonders stolz, dass er alle Instrumente, die auf dem Album zu hören sind, selbst gespielt hat. "It´s a One-Man-Band".

Seit 2009 ist George bereits überaus erfolgre-ich mit seinen DVDs "Intense Metal Drumming" und "Intense Metal Drumming II", die weltweit un-ter den Top 3 der Verkaufscharts rangieren.

Doch damit nicht genug. Für den Verlag der Modern Music School, Modu Publishing, sch-reibt George Kollias gerade an einer Buchreihe: "The Odyssey Of Double Bass Drumming". Das er-ste Buch daraus, "The Beginning" wird in Kürze erscheinen ... •

in Germany. It was nice that I was able to spend time close to my fans for 12 days and was able to teach them something about the drums. Ac-tually, I wouldn't mind at all if there were a third "Loud & Fast" tour for me. I promise I will learn to

speak even better German." George was thrilled with the warm reception he got from his fans, and how cool and relaxed, but knowledgeable his fans were when they talked to him about their favorite topic, drumming. But drumming almost never became a topic for George. What only few people know is that before devoting himself to the drums, Kollias wanted to be a gui-tar player and actually played the guitar for two

years. It was lucky for all Death Metal and Nile fans that at the age of 12, he finally decided to become a drummer.

His musical versatility is now benefiting the great drummer in connection with another

project. After two years of work, Kollias just finished his first solo album. "It will surprise some people," he says. He is particularly proud that he plays all in-struments that can be heard on the album. "It's a one-man band."

Since 2009, George is highly successful with his own DVD series "Intense Metal Drum-ming" und "Intense Met-

al Drumming II", which are constantly ranked amongst the top 3 of the worldwide sales charts.

As if that were not enough, George Kollias is now writing a book series entitled "The Odyssey of Double Bass Drumming" for Modu Publishing, the publishing division of Modern Music School. The first book, "The Beginning", will be published shortly. •

B orn in Corinth, Greece, in 1977, drummer George Kollias is known by many Death Metal fans as a

member of the legendary U.S. band Nile. Since 2004, his furious drumming style has set the extremely fast pace of the hard rock band. Since 2006, George has also been a member of the MMS family. Among other things, he is an instructor for the MMS Profes-sional Program in Athens.

George also enjoys teaching workshops. A very nice story was his "Loud & Fast" tour for Modern Music School in 2010, during which he imparted his drumming skills and other valu-able information to MMS students and those interested in drumming at various schools. So, why not repeat this successful tour. In May of this year, Kollias started his second "Loud & Fast" tour through 12 German cities. "It was absolute-ly fantastic," the drummer says of his experience on this special Germany tour. "I had a great time
