Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church As a parish of the Catholic Diocese of Charleston, Our Lady of Grace seeks to know and share God's Word, live as a community of Christian disciples, devoutly celebrate the Holy Mass and other sacraments, provide a prayerful environment for all people, and serve the poor and those in need in Christ's Name. In this way of life, Our Lady of Grace Parish looks to Mary of Nazareth as its model and patron.

Just in case you were wondering… Attending Mass on Sunday is a fulfillment of one’s obligation.
On behalf of the entire staff of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, we would like to
wish you Blessed and Happy New Year to you and your family.
Why do we call Mary the Mother of God…
To understand the title, “Mother of God,” we must first clearly understand Mary’s role as mother of our Savior, Jesus Christ. As Catholics, we firmly believe in the incarnation of our Lord: Mary conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Confer Luke 1:26-38 and Matthew 1:18-25.) Through her, Jesus Christ– second person of the Holy Trinity, one-in-being (consubstantial) with the Father, and true God from true God– entered this world taking on human flesh and a human soul. Jesus is true God and true man. In His person are united both a divine nature and a human nature. Mary did not create the divine person of Jesus, who existed with the Father from all eternity. *
One of the most important reasons we call Mary the Mother of God is because we know Luke 1:43 is referring to Mary to be the Mother of God and it is summed up in the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
Called in the Gospels "the mother of Jesus," Mary is acclaimed by Elizabeth, at the prompting of the Spirit and even before the birth of her son, as "the mother of my Lord." In fact, the One whom she conceived as man by the Holy Spirit, who truly became her Son according to the flesh, was none other than the Father’s eternal Son, the second Person of the Holy Trinity. Hence the Church confesses that Mary is truly "Mother of God" (Theotokos). IRA Charitable Rollover Consider an Option in 2017
Why not plan ahead for next year. In 2017, for individuals age 70 ½ and over, you can make a tax free transfer as part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA directly to Our Lady of Grace. It’s a convenient and smart option for supporting the work of the Church.
For more information, please contact your tax consultant.
Hearing Devices Do your wear a hearing aid, or do you need
help hearing during Mass?
Many hearing aids and other devices do not work properly with the acoustics in the church. We currently have four listening devices that are
available to borrow for your use to help enhance your hearing. Please plan to arrive 20 minutes prior to Mass so that our sound technicians are
able to assist you with the device.
If you would like to purchase your own device to use, you may contact Nick LaMendola at Sweetwater
