As could be ex- pected, all of our students, staff and community mem- bers showed great honour and respect was demon- strated during this ceremony. Special guests included, Ethan Maes’ grandfather, Veteran, Fred Cross from the US Navy; Lt Col, Murray Stewart, from the Canadian Army; and Carol Watson, who is a Past President of the Kingsville Legion. “We Care, We Can” Food Drive

Jack Miner School students and staff will once again partner with the Kingsville Goodfellows to donate

food and assist families in our community. The "We Care, We Can" food drive will begin on December

3rd and will wrap up on December 12th, as we prepare for pick up of all the items donated. We will once

again this year have themed days for our canned food drive. A memo will be sent home through School

Messenger describing the themed days. Please watch for this if you have not received it yet. Please re-

member that it is not necessary to donate specific themed items, and you can always donate according

to your preference or affordability. All donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you to Mr. Affleck and

our current leadership students, Gabriel and Leah, who have taken the time to coordinate the canned

food drive.

Eat Drink Dine Kingsville (EDDK) School Fundraiser

As part of our Winter Holiday Fundraiser, students will have the opportunity to sell gift certificates

from EDDK, to family and friends. These gift certificates can be redeemed at any EDDK establish-

ment. For every gift certificate purchased, $4 will be donated back to the school. This school fundrais-

er will help offset the cost of programs and activities throughout the school year. These gift certifi-

cates also make a great gift for the holidays. A maximum of $8 000 will be donated back to the school,

which means that we can achieve maximum profit if every child in the school sells 2 or 3 gift cards.

Student names from each division are drawn daily for one free Tuck Cart item. The top sellers each

week will have the opportunity to win a free frozen yogurt. In addition, for every gift card sold, stu-

dents will receive a raffle ticket for entry into the prize draws!

Our Leadership students, Gabriel and Leah, have been around to the classes to show our students the

prizes that are available to be won! There are so many great prizes to choose from.

The fundraiser will run from November 19th through December 7th, 2018.

Scholastic Book Fair

Thanks to the purchases of our school community at the book fair, we have earned approximately

$2000 to put towards buying library books, and classroom books and supplies. The winner of the

family draw was Macey Dugdale from JKSK Quenneville and Brouwers. A big thank you goes to our

parent volunteers, Mrs. Maes, Mrs. H. Andrade, Mrs. Mikkelsen, Mrs. Cornies, and Mrs. Elias, for

their assistance with the running of the book fair. We truly appreciate all of your help in making

this year’s Scholastic Book Fair a HUGE success! Our next Scholastic Book Fair will take place in

Early February of 2019.

CONGRATULATIONS to MISS LANGLOIS The Jack Miner School Community would like to congratulate Miss Langlois on her retirement from the Greater Essex County District School Board. Miss Langlois has worked in our Jack Miner School community for the past 10 years. While Miss Langlois will be missed by all of us at Jack Miner Public School, she certainly deserves her retirement. Her hard work and dedication to our students, staff, and school community cannot be beat. She is simply the BEST and has shown us that she cares about each and every one of us. Her contributions to our school community over the past 10 years are insurmountable. From planning Remembrance Day Ceremonies, to celebrating the 12 Days of Christmas, complete with giving back to our community, she continually shows us all the true meaning of what it takes to be a leader in our school. All of your Jack Miner Jags have enjoyed working, and learning alongside you, be it as a student, a parent, or a staff member. Even though we are saddened to see you go, we are confident that you will experience the same success and happiness in retirement, that you experienced here as a Jack Miner Jag! With much love and fond memories, your Jack Miner Jags and school community wish you all the best in your future endeavours. We know that you will embrace wholeheartedly, all of the new opportunities retirement will bring your way. Please keep in touch, and visit if you are able. We hope you have fun as you begin a new journey!

We will miss you!

Love From Your Jack Miner School Community
