Season’s Greengs. We have made it through a busy November, and hope- fully students, parents and staff can make it to the Christmas holiday with the energy and spirit to enjoy me with family and friends. December at DHS is packed with some amazing events! Our Drama class has just complet- ed their amazing DHS rendion of The Christmas Carol, basketball teams have started up, and The Symphonic Winds and Jazz bands are already pre- paring for the annual Christmas Band Concert & Silent Aucon coming up on Dec. 16 th, . As we look at the calendar turning over to December, staff and students are already talking about the Dec. 21 Music Café where we have a chance to enjoy the many musical talents within the school while sipping hot chocolate. I would like to take this me to thank the many parents who have been in- volved with acvies going on at DHS. As I look back through the months, I have seen many parents in the building for parent-teacher interviews, band concerts, athlecs, Awards night, and grad meengs. I believe the tone in the school is a posive one, and having more parents and community adults in the building helps contribute to that atmosphere. Finally, I would like to offer best wishes to Mr. Sco Eenne and his wife in Australia. Mr. Eenne is taking part in a one year teacher exchange that will have him sele into a new school in an ocean-side community on the east coast of Australia. I am jealous as I’ve seen pictures of the home he will be staying in; the only thing between his home and the ocean is a beauful stretch of white sand. Mr. Ritchie will be coming to Didsbury to take Mr. Eenne’s place. Mr. Ritchie is an experienced CTS Shop and computer teach- er who is looking forward to tesng out the ski slopes of Alberta and B.C. The exchange begins immediately aſter our Christmas break. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Season’s Greetings. We have made it through a busy November, and hope-fully students, parents and staff can make it to the Christmas holiday with the energy and spirit to enjoy time with family and friends. December at DHS is packed with some amazing events! Our Drama class has just complet-ed their amazing DHS rendition of The Christmas Carol, basketball teams have started up, and The Symphonic Winds and Jazz bands are already pre-paring for the annual Christmas Band Concert & Silent Auction coming up on Dec. 16th, . As we look at the calendar turning over to December, staff and students are already talking about the Dec. 21 Music Café where we have a chance to enjoy the many musical talents within the school while sipping hot chocolate.

I would like to take this time to thank the many parents who have been in-volved with activities going on at DHS. As I look back through the months, I have seen many parents in the building for parent-teacher interviews, band concerts, athletics, Awards night, and grad meetings. I believe the tone in the school is a positive one, and having more parents and community adults in the building helps contribute to that atmosphere.

Finally, I would like to offer best wishes to Mr. Scott Etienne and his wife in Australia. Mr. Etienne is taking part in a one year teacher exchange that will have him settle into a new school in an ocean-side community on the east coast of Australia. I am jealous as I’ve seen pictures of the home he will be staying in; the only thing between his home and the ocean is a beautiful stretch of white sand. Mr. Ritchie will be coming to Didsbury to take Mr. Etienne’s place. Mr. Ritchie is an experienced CTS Shop and computer teach-er who is looking forward to testing out the ski slopes of Alberta and B.C. The exchange begins immediately after our Christmas break.

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Modeling what great citizenship truly means

We are always proud of the goodwill our students and staff share with those around them each day, but

particularly at this time of year. During the holiday season, we can so clearly see the impact our Chi-

nook’s Edge school communities are making as they answer the call to be good global citizens. They are

sharing our caring culture by filling hundreds of shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, organizing

fundraising events for our local food banks, performing seasonal music at seniors’ homes, and much

more.

Whether through quiet acts of kindness that affect a single person, or through grand gestures that impact

an entire community, our students are modeling what great citizenship truly means. In a world where

lessons in the importance of being a good neighbour, a helpful friend and a respectful citizen are all

around us, we applaud our students and staff for the plentiful examples of their kindness. Thank you to

everyone who nurtures this generosity of spirit all year long in Chinook’s Edge!

TOUR PAYMENT SCHEDULE *All Symphonic Winds members travelling to Whistler should have at least $450 in their tour account at this time. BAND SOCIETY MEETING The next meeting of the DHS Band Society will be Tuesday, December 11th at 7 PM in the DHS Music Room. DHS BAND CHRISTMAS CONCERT

The Didsbury High School Christmas Concert, Tea and Silent Auction will be held on Sun-day, December 16th at 2:00 P.M. in the Didsbury High School Gymnasium.

In addition to being a beautiful afternoon of music, food and Christmas cheer, this is also an outstanding fundraiser for the Music Department. In order to make this event a success, we need every family’s participation in the following ways:

* We are asking each family to donate an item for the silent auction. You may request a do-

nation from a store or business you are familiar with, or some families choose to pur-chase an item for donation. These can be brought in to the Music Room anytime be-tween now and the concert.

* We also require each family to bring a plate of squares or cookies on the afternoon of the

concert. Please send these with your son/daughter when they come for their call time on Sunday. All food items should be cut and on a disposable plate.

* Finally, we will be setting up and decorating the Gym on Sunday morning at 9:00 A.M.

Although we will have a number of students on hand, parent help is always appreciated. If you are coming to bid on items in the silent auction, you are urged to pre-register your

name through our online system. Please go to dhsmusic.ca and click on the Fundraising tab

to register and receive a bidder/buyer number for the auction.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact Mr.

Wassmer at DHS [email protected] or 403.335.3356, ext. 5959.
