RECENT FIND AT ANNUAL BLUE RIDGE SHOW You never know what you’ll find or when you’ll find it. This ‘Sample’ Tulip Betsy pitcher showed up in the parking lot at the 37th Blue Ridge Show and Sale at the National Guard Armory. Did I say it was snatched up immediately by a dealer and within two (2) hours was resold?

Cake Tray? Cake Plate? Cont’d

Shown right and left are more examples of a “Cake” plate. We all know that these pieces are referred to as “Maple Leaf Cake Tray” or “Maple Leaf Cake Plate” They are always made in china not semi porcelain like the majority of Southern’s products. Some examples of the various patterns found on this shape are shown below.

Marie Compton, IL: I finally had time to read the newsletter -- isn't life supposed to get easier once you're retired?  I just wanted to let you know that you really do a fantastic job.  I used to think I was interested in writing a newsletter -- no more -- I don't have the researcher's knack like you do nor the skill with photos and layout, plus my interests lean more towards genealogy these days. However,  I always look forward to reading the newsletter as I learn something all the time. Anyway wanted you to know I truly believe you provide a beautiful and information newsletter that I appreciate.

Brown, Tom, NC: Thank you for the wonderful newsletter; informative and very well done.  Also thank you for the helpful phone comments.

ONLINE SHOPS/RESOURCES

eBay.com: Most Blue Ridge Collectors are familiar with eBay and prices on this auction site are a good indication of what collector’s can expect to pay for items. Fortunately for beginning collectors there is a lull in prices that can afford them some really good bargains. Unfortunately, I feel this is a result of long time collectors downsizing or their heirs dispersing estates.

etsy.com: Etsy started out as a venue for hand made crafts and a few vintage (over 20 years old) items. It consists of individual shops and set prices. You can visit the individual shops and communicate with the shop owners. I first established my shop in 2010. At that time, there was one page of Blue Ridge and it was not full - maybe 6 to 10 items. I began supporting shop owners of Etsy in the Newsletter. Now, I’m happy to say there are so many shops on Etsy offering Blue Ridge, that I don’t have room to give each shop individual mention. Please visit etsy.com and check out Blue Ridge Pottery and/or Southern Potteries, Inc. Now there are many pages of Blue Ridge with some really good bargains.
