In late August, Hurricane Irene knocked out power, downed trees, cancelled school for five days, and flooded homes, farms, and businesses in the communities that Terra Ceia Christian School serves. While some families were devastated by the Hur- ricane, others were left without much damage. Seeing the opportunity to put into practice this school year’s theme, “Changed Hearts to Change His World,” students and parents spread out over five locations around Terra Ceia to help our neighbors cope with the disaster. One resident wrote a thank you note expressing her extreme gratitude for the help Terra Ceia Christian students and parents gave in cleaning up her yard. “Changed Hearts to Change His World” Students returned to Terra Ceia Chris-

tian this year to a theme that we hope

will define us through May—”Changed

Hearts to Change His World.”

The theme comes to us from Ezekiel

36:26 and Ephesians 3:16-17. Ezekiel is

sent to Israel to say, “I will give you a

new heart and put a new spirit in you; I

will remove from you your heart of

stone and give you a heart of flesh.”

From this we can see that it is God’s

desire to change our hearts so that we

can live. A heart of stone will not allow

us to live the life he desires for us.

The passage from Ephesians finds Paul

praying for the church in Ephesus, “I

pray that out of His glorious riches He

may strengthen you with power

through His Spirit in your inner be-

ing, so that Christ may dwell in your

hearts through faith.” Here we find

that our hearts must be changed so

that Christ can dwell within us.

I found it interesting in the Ezekiel pas-

sage that God always has a bigger

plan. Throughout the verses before

and after verse 26, God inspires Ezekiel

to repeat over and over the phrase,

“For the sake of the nations around

you.” God’s plan is to change hearts so

that He can change His world.

opening day chapel, please visit

terraceia.wordpress.com. Please pray

for us as we seek changed hearts and a

changed world for Him.

New School Van Travels New Route

Ladies Auxiliary Fall Auction Each year the Ladies Auxiliary holds a Fall Auction to raise funds for Terra Ceia Christian. These funds are given to class-room and teacher needs above the budgeted amounts.

In the past, this money has gone for math supplies, vacuums, interactive projectors, text-books, and computers. This year close to $19,000 was raised. While down a bit from previous years, we are so thankful for the money raised during a year of poor crop yields, a hurricane, and a sluggish economy.

The BBQ Dinner for Tuition Help before the auction raised about $1300. Praise God for His con-tinued blessings.

Thank you to all those who responded to our letter at the end of last year regarding our need to purchase a bus or van for the school. Because of your generosity, Terra Ceia Christian now has a new school van. Already painted green, it is a 2004 Chevy with 70,000 miles. It is primarily being used within 15 miles of the school, freeing up our busses to run longer, direct routes in Beaufort, Washington, and Hyde counties. We hope it will serve our stu-dents for many years to come. Terra Ceia Christian continues to provide transportation as an in-cluded part of our overall cost. No student pays ex-tra to be bussed to school.

The Student Leadership of Terra Ceia Christian split up to the ele-mentary classrooms to assist the students in painting pumpkins. Can you find Jonah and the whale, Bob the Tomato, Papa Smurf, Shadow the Rabbit, Patrick Star, a cute mouse, and a fish eating shark?

Pastor Appreciation Day

Terra Ceia Christian hosted eighteen pastors on November 10. They enjoyed a meal together and students had an opportunity to bless their pastors with prayers and words of encourage-ment during our all-school chapel.
