2015 !

Time to look back, time to look forward.

On the dark side, this year brought many ex-penses to our community. Roofs and plumbing showing their age, utility rates going up. Yes, there is a $ 33.00 increase on the monthly maintenance.

On the bright side, we are steadily replacing roofs, repairing and replacing plumbing. We have a dedicated group of employees who treat us like family, and a wonderful bunch of volunteers who enjoy making our common ar-eas appear well cared for. The CIC party on the 10th was for the volunteers and everyone, (page 3) and the Employees' Luncheon on the 19th are dedicated to them.

But perhaps the largest group that makes a walk through our community a joy, are the indi-vidual residents who beautify the outside of their home. They are sources of artistic ex-pressions of beauty, wit and humor, personal pride and more. On New Year's Eve, let's raise our glasses to them..

And to all, we wish good cheer for the holidays, and a happy, healthy

New Year! The newsletter staff.

TRAVEL CLUB NEWS 12/19/'14 release. By Ed Reilly,

Travel Club Chairman, New Horizons 310-326-4710

It may have been last, but it certainly wasn't by any stretch of the

imagination, least. Of course I am referring to our last trip for

2014, to the consument Candlelight Pavilion dinner theater in

Claremont to enjoy a delicious luncheon and see their terrific

Chrismas show, "Every Day is Christmas." All 38 of us were seat-

ed in booths before the stage and were soon given champagne and

appetizers to tide us over until we could get serious with the entree

of our choice. For some it was the grilled Atlantic Salmon fillet,

for others, the cranberry orange marinated chicken breast or my

selection, the traditional holiday tri-tip. All were cooked to perfec-

tion. After the coffee was served, and the tables cleared, the cur-

tains parted to begin a most delightful, high spirited musical

presentation. The singing and dancing talent in this musical theater

is amazing. One highlight was seeing a multitalented 9-year old

lad who could do it all, sing, dance and act. He was exciting to

watch. Of course Santa and Mrs. Claus were there to help us see

the joys Christmas through the eyes of children. All in all it was a

terrific show. Everyone on the trip agreed that it was a wonderful

program to end our 2014 travel season and wanted to be sure that

we consider this a holiday destination for next year.

On that happy note and behalf of the officers and members of

the Travel Club, we wish each and every one of our New Hori -

zons neighbors a healthy, happy and prosperous holiday season.

January

As I mentioned before, the signup sheet for our January 2015 trip

to the Lawrence Welk Resort Theater to see "The King and I", is

currently on the board in the Clubhouse. The date is now firmly

established. It is Sunday, January 18, 2015. We are pleased to

see that the signup sheet is quickly filling up. This means that with

just a few more names, we will be able to offer this trip at it's low-

est price, $104.00 per person. Bring your friends.

Now some preliminary travel notes for the 2015 travel year.

At our December meeting, the club looked ahead and decided that

we would most likely enjoy the following trips: ● An "act out"

mystery trip, ● A Laughlin Getaway in May, ● A California Phil-

harmonic concert at the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall, ● A trip

to Apple Country (Oak Glen) ● And to round out the year, another

trip to the Lawrence Welk Theater to see "Meet me in St. Louis."

As the year progresses, we will flesh out these suggestions

coming up with dates and times.

Do you enjoy traveling? If so, how about joining us? The Travel

Club meets the first Thursday of every month at 7:00 PM in the

Clubhouse - except for next month. The first Thursday being New

Years Day, our next meeting will take place on January 8, 2015

We always conduct a little business, discuss new and upcoming

trips, see a travel related film and enjoy a social hour with refresh-

ments. It is a lot of fun.

If you would like additional information, please call Ed Reilly at

(310) 326-4710, or Sharon Rose at (310) 539-0811.
