And isn’t that the point for all of us?” Merry Christmas to all and have a happy and healthy New Year! Sincerely, Mrs. Margaret Egan Principal

Dear Parents,

Advent is coming to a close and our efforts to reach out to others and to be a peaceful people have been a successful one. We have raised funds for the “Make a Wish Foundation,” collected food for the poor and made holiday stockings for the residents at Wellington. We wrote letters to our Prayer Partners and tried to use kind words when we talk to others. What a heartfelt way to prepare our hearts for the birth of Jesus!

Let us look to the example of Time Magazine’s Man of the Year, Pope Francis, as described by Chris Mominey, the Secretary for Education in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. His latest blog post states, “In the end what we have here is an opportunity to celebrate the triumph of love over hate, of peace over war, of humility over arro-gance and of trust over betrayal. What Francis has done in his less than 300 days in office (yes, it’s only been that many days) is to take the world by storm with the simplicity of his namesake, Francis of Assisi. Perhaps then it is providential that it was Francis of Assisi who was credited with this quote: “Preach the Gospel everyday and when necessary use words.” I suspect when histo-rians look back on this papacy that we have been privileged to witness, they will remember much more about what Pope Francis DID rather than what he SAID. And isn’t that the point for all of us?”

Merry Christmas to all and have a happy and healthy New Year!

Sincerely, Mrs. Margaret Egan Principal

Special guest, Mr. Carl Trovato, a rock enthusiast and collector, visited Mrs. Lowthert's and Ms. Trovato's 3rd grade science classes. Mr. Trovato shared slides, interesting rocks, minerals and a few fossils to enhance the students' classroom expe-rience and bring the science curriculum to life.

First Holy Penance

At Saints Peter and Paul School

During this Advent the second grade students of the Parish received the Sacrament of Penance. In

preparation, the children learned about the Ten Command-ments, using free will, listening to their conscious, and above all, forgiveness. They arrived at church ready for the Sacrament. During the ceremony, Father Welsh asked many question, and the children knew the answers. The priests assisting in the cele-bration of the sacrament were impressed by the preparedness of the Saints Peter and Paul second graders. The second graders are beginning to understand the greatness of God's love and that He will never stop loving us. We ask second grade parents to continue to share the sacrament of Penance with the children as they learn about The Eucharist and Jesus' ultimate sacrifice.
