Although the business isbased in Loomis, the foodruck’s distinctive fire en-

gine red color and logo canbe found at craft breweries inLincoln, Loomis, Rocklin, Ros-vil le, Auburn and Folsom. The Goathouse Brewing Co.

n rural Lincoln was their firstmobile service site, Julie Sweetaid.

“We’ve found our niche withhese little breweries,” she said.

    Kenny Gowan, co-owner of

Loomis Basin Brewing Co.,aid food trucks have workedwell at his business becauseustomers can order a mealnd enjoy a craft beer in theame location.

With 45 years in the foodservice industry, the Sweetsmet while working in a restau-rant: he was a busboy, she wasa waitress.

The couple said they knowthe business “in and out” andtwo items make their foodtruck business special.

First, food is prepared dailyfrom “old family recipes.” Andsecond, their daughters, Dutraand Laurie Rose, deliver foodorders to customers.

“You order from the truck window but then you can sitand enjoy a beer in the brew-ery while waiting for yourfood,” Julie Sweet said.

Favorite menu selectionsare barbecued baby-back porkribs, tri-tip steak and pulledpork sandwiches, barbecuedchicken, and occasionally, fishand chips. Side items includehomemade cole slaw andbaked beans.

Recently, the Sweets add-ed homemade desserts to themenu. The lemon cookies areselling well, Julie Sweet said.

Sweet said her favorite partof owning a food truck is thatshe gets to work for herself and with her family.

“Because we’re working forourselves, we can cook the way we want to and be proud of ourfood,” Sweet said “And we can

try out new things to see what works, like the desserts we’retesting out now.”
