THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JUNE 30, 2013

Dear people of St. Mary’s:

I hope and pray that you are well. As you read this, I’ll be making my way back from guiding a pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. Thank you to all who took part in our Vacation Bible School this past week.

We welcome to our parish Fr. Tony Stanonik – a priest from our Diocese who is currently a missionary in Nicaragua. You will hear a little about his ministry this week. Gracias Padre Tony!! Bienvenido y vaya con Dios!

YES! Remember how I had hoped that someone was recording Pope Francis’ daily Mass homilies at St. Martha’s chapel. They’re now online at the Vatican website: www.vatican.va – Entering the site simply click “Daily Meditations of the Holy Father” – booyah! You will find that they are titled and have the date on which they were delivered. Let’s keep Pope Francis in prayer and the upcoming World Youth Day 2013 which will take place in Rio De Janeiro, Brasil. May it be a Pentecost of New Evangelization for our youth and the whole Church.

Fortnight for Freedom We are in the heart of the Fortnight for Freedom: a time of prayer, fasting, education, and political activism. If you have not done so, download the reflections at www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/religious-liberty/fortnight-for-freedom/upload/Fortnight-Reflections-pref-statement.pdf and pray the prayer for religious freedom.

Prayer for Religious Liberty “O God our Creator, from your provident hand we have received our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You have called us as your people and given us the right and the duty to worship you, the only true God, and your Son, Jesus Christ.Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit, you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world, bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel to every corner of society.

Give us the strength of mind and heart to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened; give us courage in making our voices heard on behalf of the rights of your Church and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith.

The Fortnight concludes on July 4th – we will have a bilingual Mass on July 4th at 8AM to conclude the Fortnight. I do however also want to invite you to the bilingual Mass for the Feast of Our Lady of Refuge on Friday July 5th at 8:30AM. Since it is the First Friday, there will be Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and First Friday Confessions.

God bless you in Jesus and Mary,

THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JUNE 30, 2013

verdadero, y a tu Hijo, Jesucristo.

P. Eduardo
