Hope this zine finds you well.

My boyfriend and I visited Prishtina recent-ly. After our trip, we began thinking about

the first issue of this queer publication, which will be called “Kushtetuta,” meaning

“constitution” in English. We chose this name in order to mark an ironic beginning, because for different reasons, the constitu-tion of Kosovo grants far more freedom and

rights than society does.

In Albanian, if you divide the word into KUSH TE TUT A?, it translates to “Who

scares you?”

Nadamo se da ste dobro.

Moj dečko i ja smo nedavno posetili Prištinu. Nakon putovanja, počeli smo da razmišljamo o prvom broju ove queer pu-blikacije, koja će se zvati “Kushtetuta”, što

u prevodu na srpski jezik znači “Ustav”. Izabrali smo ovo ime kako bismo označili jedan ironičan početak jer, iz više razloga, Ustav Kosova obezbeđuje mnogo više slo-

bode i prava nego samo društvo.

Ako na albanskom jeziku raščlanite reč na KUSH TE TUT A? to se prevodi kao

“Ko vas plaši?” ;)

Unë dhe i dashuri im e kemi vizituar Prishtinën së fundmi. Pas vizitës sonë atje, ne filluam të mendonim për numrin e parë

Bad-dressed people in need are just craving for love.

…once I spent an afternoon in the Frick Art Reference Library, housed in a private collector’s museum in uptown Manhattan. I was specifically looking at how the Frick collection had been photographed. I found five photographs of sculptures by Massimiliano Soldani (1656 –1740), a sculptor of only minor importance. I wanted to retain a trace of these works—like buying a postcard in a museum shop, only more art nerd-like. So I asked for photocopies of both sides of the archive photographs and headed off with them. Back in Berlin, I made etchings of these degraded dirty images—perversely labor intensive. The result was the work Two Photocopies (2010), which was also in our show. It consists of a series in which each of the etched photocopies are framed together with the Frick’s “Photocopy Order Form,” ironically stating that I will not reproduce them. It bears witness to artistic research. It documents me finding and appropriating images.
