DEAR FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS, What a blessing to get to share these newsletters with you. Thank you so much for those who shared a little extra with us this December during my month of voice rest. You will never know how much it means to us, may God bless you for it. Every January I can’t help but feel so thankful that God has brought us safely through another year. As we start this New Year I can’t help but wonder if this might be the year that God gives Jesus the OK to come and take His children home. It could happen. Signs of the times are everywhere. I don’t know about you but whether it is today or 100 years from now, I’m good. If He comes today it will be the most wonderful day of my life. If He doesn’t, we’ll get the chance to bring a few more with us when He does come. This year will begin our 31st year of full-time ministry. Our grandchildren are singing many of the same songs that the boys were singing when we started. I am getting the joy of watching the 2nd generation of Akins begin to stand next to me and to help me understand how to minister more effectively in this fast-changing world.

Our family wants 2018 to be our greatest year. Our New Year’s resolution is not having a #1 song, making a lot of money, or being more popular, but to touch the lives of more people than ever before. We are working on a new theme for our concerts, conferences, and crusades called, “The Akins 2018 Fight for the Family Tour”. We don’t feel that it will be enough in 2018 to just focus on the family; it is time for us to fight for our families. Satan knows that his time is getting shorter and he knows that he can cripple us if he can break up our homes. Please pray for us that God will give us wisdom and guidance as we do our best this year with our talents and abilities to put together a ministry that will strengthen Christian families and win lost families all over the world. When we are able, we will be including our wives and children who will be singing and sharing, helping us to connect with the whole family.

We also would love to do some mission trips. We are praying that God will show us where He wants us to go, what He needs us to do, and that He’ll supply the funds for us to go. We hope to continue our home ministries such as feeding the homeless, hospices, and ministering to our Harp’s Crossing shut-ins. Thank you so much for those of you who have blessed us with your love, prayers, and financial support. We know that we are able to do what we do because of you. We have such joy in our hearts knowing that what you have done to help us will not go unnoticed. I believe that it is really true, “you cannot out give God”.

UPDATE ON DAVEY AND SARAH We were so blessed to have Davey, Sarah, and the kids stay with us during Christmas. It was like old times having everyone together again. Davey, Sarah, and the kids are doing well. Davey just finished his second semester with good grades and will start his third soon. Believe it or not he has become an Uber driver. He loves it and is able to witness to many of his passengers, many who would never go into a church. He works from 9 or 10p.m. most nights until morning, comes home and sleeps 3-4 hours, gets up and studies, then goes to his afternoon and evening classes, comes home and spends a little time with his wife and kids, then starts all over again. I don’t know how he does it all but I’m so proud of him that he’s willing to do whatever is necessary to fulfill his role as husband and father and to carry out God’s calling on his life. UPDATE ON NICK AND JULIE Last January when Dave and Sarah moved out of our original home at the recording studio and moved to New Orleans, Nick and Julie moved into that home. Nick has done an amazing job learning and organizing our recording studio. He has created all of our performance tracks that we use live and he did an incredible job recording our newest CD, Eyes On The Road. He is also beginning to produce and record other artists on the side, when we’re not on the road. However, after many years of recording, and technology constantly changing, our computer and recording software are at a place where we can’t upgrade anymore

without purchasing an entirely new system. Nick is very talented and is making great-sounding recordings with the studio as is, but in order to keep up with technology we will need to upgrade some things in the near future. Please pray for us about this, as this studio saves our ministry thousands of dollars every year in recording costs. Julie is currently homeschooling Addy and staying home with Addy and Jude. It has been a blessing for her to be at home with the kids. She does a wonderful job homeschooling Addy!

UPDATE ON ELI AND WHITNEY Eli and Whitney are praying about God’s plan for a book Whitney is working on. It is a non-fiction work based on her experience with infertility. She would like to call it Hope Deferred based on Proverbs 13:12. That is all I will say for now. It is in the process of being edited and proofed. I believe that it will touch, inspire, and encourage all who read it. We need your prayers on how God wants us to publish it. God has done an amazing work in Whitney’s life the last couple of years. She has always been bashful when it came to being in front of large crowds. In August of 2016 she came to me and told me that I may want to sit down. With tears in her eyes she said that God had been speaking to her and that she had something she would like to share at our Harp’s Homecoming concert. Of course I was excited but had no idea what a powerful message God would give her to share. Since that night she has been speaking in many of our services. Pray for Eli and Whitney as they continue to follow God’s will for their lives. Also pray for Eli as he prepares to film and edit a new music video and new promotional material for our ministry in the coming months.

PRAYER REQUESTS For the last three months Lagene has been trying to heal from a surgery that developed complications. Remember her in prayers as she has still one more wound that seems to be healing slower than the others. We are so grateful that we have made it this far and are heading toward a full recovery. Continue to pray for our new CD, Eyes On The Road, that it will continue to bless everyone who hears it and will also help create many new bookings for our ministry in 2018.

OUR MINISTRY HAS A NEED We are praying that God will show us, in His time, what to do for a new van that will be large enough to seat our family, comfortable enough to allow us to go long distances, and powerful enough to pull our equipment trailer. Right now our old van is still holding together but is losing power when pulling the trailer up hill and is almost at 200,000 miles.
