Dear Colleagues,

It gives me enormous pleasure to present the second issue of volume II of the bi-monthly

APEC Digest for July – August carrying details of activities and achievements of faculty members

and students of the college. In this issue, activities of the various forums of the college are classified

I am fascinated to present this bi-monthly issue consisting of various dimensions of APEC.

The faculty members have presented as well published papers in various conferences and journals.

And students from various departments has presented papers and participated in various events.

I can proudly say that our students are provided with industrial visits for their practical

exposure. And our students are rendered with BEC orientation program and HR CONNECT -2014 to

escalate their placement activities. It gives me pride to express our students are given basic courses

on French and Hindi and also awareness programme on public service examination.

The ICTACT youth present – 2014 regional finale was hosted by our college. The APEC

Alumni association organized alumni interaction by second batch (1985 – 89).

It gives me pride to express out APEC has been recognized as category – 2 in the AICTE –

CII survey of industry linked technical institution survey – 2013.

BEC Orientation Programme

The Training and Placement Cell has organized a “BEC

(Business English Certificate)”Orientation Programme on

04/07/2014 for the final year students in the presence of

Sakthi. Dr.G.B. Senthil Kumar, Correspondent. The Chief

Guest for the occasion was Mr.Stephen Chinnaswamy,

CEO, Strides, Chennai. They interacted with the students

and motivated them.

HR CONNECT-2014

The Training and Placement Cell has organized HR

CONNECT-2014 on 07/08/2014 for the final year students in

the presence of Sakthi. Dr. G. B. Senthil Kumar,

Correspondent. HR managers from leading companies

participated and addressed their thoughts to our students. Our

WORKSHOP ON “SOFTWARE TESTING AS A

CAREER”

The Training and Placement Cell has organized a Workshop,

“Software Testing as a Career” on 25/07/2014 for the final

year CSE/IT/ECE/MCA eligible students in the presence of

E. Career Guidance Cell Career Guidance Cell of Adhiparasakthi Engineering College is conducting “Basic courses on

French and Hindi” for the final year students of all departments for assisting them in their placement

activities.

Awareness programme on Public Service Examinations.

On 23rd

August 2014, an awareness programme on public service examinations was organized by

Career Guidance Cell at APEC Indoor Stadium. Mr. N.

Aruljothiarasan, Additional Collector / Project

Coordinator, DRDA Collectorate, Kancheepuram was

the chief guest and Mrs. Jaya Sudha, AD (Panchayat),

Maduranthagam was an invitee speaker. Mr. John

Solomon of M/s Vijay Nikethan, Vellore also provided

some tips for the students.

F. Student Chapter Activities The Department of EEE Organized one Week ISTE –

SRM Sponsored Short Term training Program on

“Optimization of Different FACTS Control Parameter in

Power System Network” from 14th

July 2014 to 20th

July 2014. The Programme was Inaugurated by

ordinated the Programme

The Department of Mechanical in association with Society of Automotive Engineers

conducted Baja SAE competition

Baja SAE consists of competitions that simulate real-world engineering design projects and

their related challenges. Engineering students are tasked to design and build an off-road

vehicle that will survive the severe punishment of rough terrain.

The object of the competition is to provide SAE student members with a challenging project

that involves the design, planning and manufacturing tasks found when introducing a new

product to the consumer industrial market.

Teams compete against one another to have their design accepted for manufacture by a

fictitious firm. Students must function as a team to not only design, build, test, promote, and

race a vehicle within the limits of the rules, but also to generate financial support for their

project and manage their educational priorities.

All vehicles are powered by a ten-horsepower Intek Model 20 engine donated by Briggs &

Stratton Corporation. For over twenty-five years, the generosity of Briggs & Stratton has

enabled SAE to provide each team with a dependable engine free of charge.

Use of the same engine by all the teams creates a more challenging engineering design test.

In this regard our students are participated the first step of the competition virtual event was

conducted at Gujarat Technological Institute, Ahmedabad on 2nd

August 2014.

Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) Students

Chapter Inaugural was held on 13.08.2014.

Dr.K.Muthukumar, Honorary Regional Secretary (IIChE),

Chennai Regional Centre and Associate Professor, A C

Tech., Anna University, Chennai acted as Chief Guest and

inaugurated the chapter. He distributed IIChE student

membership cards to final year students and delivered a

guest lecture on the topic “Development of Chemical

Technologies for Sustainability”.Students presented “papers”

and “posters” on the same day. CHEMQUIZ and Tamil

Challenge event was conducted for the students. The prizes

and certificates were distributed in the Valedictory Function.

ICTACT Youth Present – 2014 Regional Finale - Hosted by APEC:

“Youth Present 2014″ – Organized by ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu, is a National level Presentation

Contest for Students. The Regional Finale for the Tamil Nadu North Region was hosted by

Adhiparasakthi Engineering College. The Juries for the contest from variegated industries :

Kumaran, Head – Finance, Mobius Knowledge Services Mr. B. Shankar, Associate Vice President, Polaris Software Ltd. Mr. B. Anbuthambi, VP, Educational Initiatives, ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu.

G.APEC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

The second batch (1985-89) silver jubilee alumni meet was organized on 08.08.2014 at APEC

campus. The alumni were visited the campus after 25 years of their graduation. Nearly 120 alumni

from various places around the world were attended in this memorable occasion.

Sakthi.Dr.G.B.Senthilkumar, Correspondent of APEC presides over the function and releases the

souvenir which contains the details of all the alumni in that batch, Sun TV Pattimandram fame

‘NagaichuvaiNavalar’ PulavarM.Ramalingam has delivered the special address to the alumni.

Before this Dr.V.Ramasamy, Principal of APEC has delivered the welcome address. On behalf of

1985-89 batch alumni were presented a memento for the college to the correspondent. In this

occasion many of the alumni shared their experiences with present students and also recollect their

college days. They were visited the each and every places of the campus, their classrooms, central

library, research centres etc., Dr.S.Jayashri, Director of APEC has presented a memento to each

alumnus at the end of the meet. Mr.M.Mariappan, Convener of APEC Alumni Association has

delivered the vote of thanks and finally the wonderful occasion was ended with group photo.

Alumni Interaction

Mr.S.Vijayakumar (1997-2001 B.Tech [Chem] Batch) interacted

with the faculty and students of Chemical Engineering on

01.08.2014. He is currently working as Director (Technical

Services), Subhraa Engineering Construction & Contracts Ltd.,

Ranipet.

Mr.AnoopVargheese and Mr.M.V.Abin (2009-2013 B.Tech [Chem]

Batch) interacted with the faculty and students of Chemical

Engineering on 28.07.2014. Mr.AnoopVargheese is currently

working as Graduate Engineering Trainee in MFL, Chennai and

Mr.M.V.Abin as Panel Engineer in TPL, Chennai.
