Sketch Design Development

In terms of personal space, it represents the area around the human body. Personal space can be various in different scenario with different groups of people. Our sketch design is basically trying to create a second skin which is based on the skin & bone sturcture and provide personal space. The second skin is designed for particular scenario when the users need to move their arms frequently and avoid intercepting with other people around by creating more personal space. Therefore, the skin second skin can be used when they are working on the library or oth-er study area where they might want to be getting isolated. With the idea of skin & bone, we are trying to build a structure that with single elements arrying and twisting like the plant supprot does.

Refined Sketch Design

When we try to refine our design, we found the original sketch design is not flexible enough and the uses can not adujust their personal space when they are in different situation and with differnt people. In addition , the sturcture can be in more or-ganic curve shapes than befor which will make the design more continous.

Precedent Research

Bruham Pavilion is a well-innovation in Mil-liennium Park in Chicago. Its bent-alumium structure created an unique curvilinear form. The fluid sghape that established by frabic skins on the metal frame created a secret and private space to attract people to walk inside.

Precedent Reasearch Applied to Design

The fluid shape of the pavilion plus its superimpositions of spatial structure, give an inspiration of the parellel curvilinear where can be folded by several times( such as cross the arm to the head, or cross the whole body to the leg, etc). In terms of fluid shape, it is able to make our design more continous and provid more person-al space and privacy with covering more body parts.

Second Skin Proposed Design

With the inspiration of parrel curvilinear and in terms of skin & bone, we tried to make structures on the shoulders and up-per body.
