Library Vision

To be a school library whose focus on student passions, interests and learning contributes to an education which builds lifelong reading for leisure and academic rigour in research and decision making.

Library Mission

Provide and promote resources which will excite you with the richness of what is known and inspire you with the possibility of what is yet to be discovered. Also support you to think clearly, creatively and with passion.

Provide a safe haven within the school, a vibrant meeting place and a place where student voice informs decision making.

Engage you with resources demonstrating varied perspectives and the writing of our very best thinkers, both modern and historical.

When

Junior School

Students visit the library during their regular library classes and may also visit at lunchtimes on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, as well as after school when they are with their parents.

Senior School

Mondays to Thursdays 8.00am - 5.30pm

Fridays 8.00am to 3.30pm. The library is closed after school.

IT Help

Mr Aziz Zahid provides K-12 student IT support in the library before school, at recess and in the second half of lunch from 1.05pm

What

The David Wright Library contains a collection of over 22,000 resources including books, audio books, magazines, references and video. The book collection includes Picture Books, Fiction, Young Adult Fiction, Senior Fiction, Non Fiction and Senior Non Fiction.

Our online collection of hundreds of eBooks, thousands of references and videos may be accessed from our library website at www.oxley.nsw.edu.au/library/library-blog/.

How long

The library has a flexible loan limit of four books per student and each loan is for two weeks. This is to ensure students are able to keep track of their books and easily transport them to and from College. We are happy to extend this loan limit in many cases in order to meet student learning and leisure reading needs.

School Holidays. We encourage students to borrow books for leisure reading during the holidays to emphasise reading as a pleasurable activity. Junior School parents can assist their children by ensuring they have their books ready to return on their library day. Students must have a library bag for their books in order to protect their loans from damage.

Oh no - overdue!

Emails to families are automatically generated at the end of each month listing overdue loans. Overdue loans are also reviewed at the end of each term and reminder letters mailed to families requesting return of overdue items. Please contact library staff if you feel you have received an overdue notice in error.
