Dear friends and family in Christ,

November and December were extra-full months for us. There were thanksgiving services, some church

dedications, and Christmas services in several villages. One village where I was asked to speak is an eight-hour

drive away. A group of young people from the Chiang Mai Lisu Church went along to help with singing, skits

and short plays. It was a good time to visit, share and participate in the services. For Thanksgiving and Christmas

conventions, the services begin on Friday evening, and go through Saturday and Sunday.

On January 2nd three of my office team and I drove

over 6 hours to a border town in two pickups to take

books for the churches in that area. We were able

to send off 27 different books (Bibles, hymnbooks,

commentaries, children’s books, etc) - almost 3,000

pounds in all. These books will go to places where we

can’t personally get to, and where there are not many

opportunities for them to get reading material. Since

this time of year is the dry season, these books can be

transported to the villages without much delay.

Blessings!

A number of young people at the Chiang Mai Lisu Church

made decisions to follow Christ. One Sunday morning, three

were baptized, and two weeks later a young man in his early

twenties was baptized as well. In the city, we use a portable

baptistry outside, and a group of people will stand around to

sing and to join in the prayer for the new believers. (In the

village we go to the nearest stream.) There is a real sense of

“family” that is present during these times.

Just as in the West, people in Asia are moving into

using computers, digital cameras and smart phones

as well. A number of our younger preachers and

evangelists are becoming quite adept at using the new

technology, and at least one preacher just recently used

a clip from YouTube to illustrate his message. The

audio Lisu New Testament is now being used, and the

plan is to have the New Testament text put on smart

phones and hand-held reading devices before long.

We are always amazed at how much the peo-

ple in the villages value the Bible and Hymn

books. The smiles, even from children at a

Christian hostel, are a joy to see. We are bless-

ed to be part of making this happen.

You can view some of the videos and hear some of the

songs and preaching/teaching in Lisu by logging on at

www.youtube.com, and then, in the search box type in

“lisu gospel media” These are being posted by Lisu in

Thailand and Myanmar.

We are so grateful to have you praying for us and

supporting the work that is going on here.

Glad to get their own Bibles!
