They truly are our best advertisement! Thanks too to the efforts again of Mrs Holloway, Mr Cowan, Mr Harton, Mr Bob Ashton and the team who set everything up. We are served so well by these peo- ple. I look forward to meeting the families as we now move in to the period where we need enrolment forms to be dropped in and interviews booked with you and the College Executive. Please get your forms in asap. Enrolments are due now.

College Athletics Carnival A great community day. Yesterday we held our College Athletics Carnival in cold and windy conditions at Gus Smith Oval. However, the students entered into the day in a very enthusiastic way. Many records were broken despite the conditions and a great day was had by all. Thanks to Mr Croese for his organisation and to the support of all staff who worked very hard to ensure the day ran well. More next week… Sr Philomena- Diamond Jubilee and the St Marys Primary School Shelter. In honour of Sr Phil’s 60th year as a Presentation sister, St Mary’s Primary School opened their new playground shelter named in her honour and blessed by Fr. Tom. We share in the heritage of the Presentation Sisters in Young and it was great to be there to help her see her fine work over many years so well recognised. It was nice too, to be able to see St Mary’s cele-brate having their shelter which will add so much to the school . Visit by Year 10 students from Cootamundra and Temora Today we host Sacred Heart Cootamundra and St Anne’s Temora Year 10 students who are to become part of our Year 11 cohort in 2016. We are an integral part of their Kindergarten to Year 12 pathway of Catholic Education within this part of the Archdiocese. We look forward to working with them and their families. Today they will take part in some information sessions, have lunch with us- a BBQ and take part in some inter-school games. Debutante Ball 2015 This coming Saturday night we have the 2015 Debutante Ball hosted by the Hennessy Community Council at the Young PCYC. Best wishes to all debu-tantes and partners for this significant event in the community calendar. It should be a great evening.

God Bless.

Community Connections

Successful Parent Evening on Raising Teens

Thank you to those parents who took the opportunity to attend David Ko-

bler from Media Choicez presentation on raising teens on Monday night.

Our year 10 and 11 students have hopefully spoken to you about the young

men and women’s seminars presented by David and Katie on Tuesday. In

June, we have Marcele Bernard’s presentations of Speak Easy to our junior

students and Fear for our older students continuing our theme of good

men and women.

David made many good points regarding parenting and how we can help

with the impact of being a youth in today’s society and that although they

have the most access to information and connection throughout the world

their level of isolation is increasing. As parents we need to make strong and

difficult decisions but the line of communication needs to recognise and

share mistakes that are made and how your child would cope given that

situation. It is not just a matter of saying “do not do…” but looking for ways

to share and direct expectations. Feedback from the evening by parents was

very positive and we look forward to future parent evenings.

Uniform

Reminder students are to wear the school jumper, in the first instance, be-

fore placing a plain blue jacket over it. Students will be asked to resolve by

removal of garment.

Change in Date for Variety Night

Variety Night will now be on Wednesday 24th June; with the Community Council meeting moving to Thursday 25th June.

School Mass

Please mark the date of Saturday 23rd May for Gallagher house school mass at 6pm on the Saturday night at St Mary’s. It would be great to see as many of our students and families, taking the opportunity to celebrate their faith and breaking bread together.

Driver Policy and Processes

All student drivers upon receiving their licence (P plates) need to

complete and submit the drive to and from school forms to me to be pro-

cessed. The policy and form are available on our school website.

Kickstart Soccer

'Kickstart Soccer’ is a program designed for children with a disability aged

5-12 who would like to participate in a team sport and learn to play soccer in

a structured, fun environment. The focus of the program will be on skill de-

velopment, active participation and having fun.

Parent/carer participation is vital for this program to run successfully. De-

pending on each child’s needs and abilities, parents or carers will be asked to

participate in the program with their child or at the very least remain at the

field for the duration of the session (approx. 45 minutes).

The program will be conducted at Gus Smith Oval Young beginning on Satur-

day 23rd May in conjunction with the junior soccer competition.

The cost for the 2015 season is $30 which includes the use of a playing

shirt.

Socks, $10 and shorts, $20 can be purchased at the club house when regis-

tering.

Registrations will be held at Gus Smith Oval on Saturday the 9th and 16th of

May from 9.00am to 11.00 am.

For further information about the program please contact Leonie Dunn on
