developed as part of a larger

project. What was this product’s

purpose or function in its original

setting? This is a good time to

write a short synopsis of the

purpose of the grant, the grant

activities, the objectives of the

grant and the objectives of this

particular product package.)

The State of Arizona received a $1.2 million Labor

Market Information (LMI) Improvement grant from the

U.S. Department of Labor in November 2009 as part of

the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

The grant provides resources to the Arizona LMI

Research office to assess the state’s green economy,

measure the number of green jobs available, and

provide baseline information about location of current

jobs and where future job opportunities will likely be in

this emerging sector of the state’s economy.

The project is being advised by a statewide group of

business, government, and academic leaders with

expertise in various aspects of the green economy.

A national research team, led by the Council for

Community and Economic Research (C2ER), is

providing research assistance.

The project’s seventh major deliverable is a series of

PowerPoint Presentations, identified under Tasks 1-6 of

the “Project Timeline,” and designed to engage

stakeholders’ inputs via seminars and training sessions

with the states LMI staff. As part of this series of

deliverables, this PowerPoint Presentations was

developed for for a two-day seminar (April 25-26, 2011)

on “understanding the green economy in Arizona from

lessons learned.”

The PowerPoint was developed to outline and

summarize the key LMI Improvement (LMII) grant

research by other states LMII grantees in comparison to

Arizona.

The primary goal of the seminar was to create

sustainability action plans (including government policy)

through training and continuing discussions with all

stakeholders within the State about how to deploy

lessons learned to inform future LMII green research as

well as progress the strategic opportunities identified by

project research findings for developing and growing

the emerging green economy in Arizona.
