Yesterday, five independent Scandinavian designers presented their A/W 2012 collections in a joint show.

The five designers each contributed with their versions of the dynamic theme nature, the interpretations moving in volume from windy empti-ness and dark forests to heavenly gardens.

A white collection of dresses in contrast materials from the hands of Beate Godager showed a keenness for simplicity and details as visible seams. Hot Friture followed in the tracks of simplicity and provided a more distinct take with black and grey contrasts in wavy designs like a preppy black dress with a long train. Yasamin Zafar turned the subject onto a more earthy view featuring suede leather with frills and spray-painted tribal-inspired prints.

Laura Baruel was inspired by Eden’s garden and introduced big wavy tu-nic-inspired robes in light fabrics printed in the mood of a beautiful rain-forest. RIIS closed off with a hike deep in the forest, presenting heavy fur items in brown in company with dark blue, well-tailored tops and skirts with somewhat printed edges in green-blue-white hues underscoring the whole theme of nature with a feel of elves living deep inside the woods.

The five designers matched in theme and the show seemed coherent de-spite their individual take on the topic.

New GeNerals

It was a privilege to watch kids brand New Generals’ view on fashion for the little ones.

The A/W 2012 collection featured only items in black and grey hues, a refreshing color take on clothing for kids, which always seems to range between loud signal colors. Adorable kids slipped down the runway dressed to coolness.

The collection seemed coherent and strong in theme, butterfly prints for the girls and beetle prints for boys. With a focus on soft cotton, details like toeless stock-ings, fingerless mittens, hats and hoodies gave the col-lection an edge and attitude, balanced in color silence.

As the brand predicts, this is the new generation of gen-erals — fashion-wise, anyway.

The Avia of Scandinavia show Saturday at Copenhagen Contemporary Art Center unveiled a passion for Parisian boudoire á la Moulin Rouge and sexy decadence. The collection oozed of self-confidence and sex appeal, sporting classic tight silhouettes, dresses, tops and skirts, focusing on the waist and female figure – totally aiming at boosting womanly sex appeal. Featuring heavy hues like black, bordeaux and purple shades, the delicate light materials, in contrast to sharp velour showing lots of skin, underscored the Parisian bou-doire theme. Delicate black laces, nature-printed trans-parent shirts, lacquer leggings and soft fur added even more sexiness. Recurring styling details like lip rings with chains and faux-hawk hairdos on the models further established the seductive character of the collection and left one won-dering; where outside the bedroom would you dare to wear these perfectly-fitted, spicy and underplayed erotic items without being the center of a beautiful manhunt.
